More proof that there are some really cool houses up north that are far from your standard, brick-and-stone-clad builder’s special. This 1970s contemporary in West Plano is a wonderful example of how you can find a fabulous, updated home with tons of great details up in Collin County.

Located inside Bent Trail, this lovely home not only has great curb appeal and perfect landscaping, but inside is a transitional transformation that is just perfect for a modern family.

From the coffered ceilings and copious built-ins to the expansive living space and hardwood floors, this home is perfect for a family who wants to relocate to one of the highest-performing school districts in the state but doesn’t want to have to fiddle with anything. With four bedrooms, three full baths, two living areas, two fireplaces, two dining rooms, and a lovely updated kitchen, the 2,770-square-foot one-story home at 5935 Deseret Trail needs no tweaks. Considering it has tons of windows, lofty ceilings, designer paint, new lighting, and a pool in the backyard, I was a little shocked to see that Dave Perry-Miller agent Paige Elliot has this adorable home listed for just $439,000. That’s less than $160 per square foot!

I do love the kitchen, which has a wet bar with a wine rack and beverage refrigerator that opens to the dining area. You also get granite counters, custom cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances including a six-burner gas cooktop. The layout is just perfect, too, with a focused work triangle and an opening looking out to the breakfast area.

The master bedroom is a modest-but-livable 14 x 14, and the en-suite bath is a real looker. Check out that jetted tub with cool, built-in cabinetry separating it from the shower. I also like the unconventional vanities and mirrors. It’s those kinds of details that will really resonate with the right buyer. Heck, if you plunked this home over in my neck of the woods, I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat. Next to the bath is the master closet, which has an Elfa system.

And of course, there’s the backyard, which sports a cool patio area and a nice little pool, perfect for keeping the kids busy in the summer. It’s that detail that makes me think this home would be perfect for a transferring Toyota employee. A pool is the perfect way to adjust to a Texas summer. What do you think?
