Preston Hollow Village is So Wonderful We Get Free Food There Saturday

Vertskewbap

You know how much we love Preston Hollow Village, the new development that is making lemonade out of the lemon (to put it nicely) that was the northwest intersection of Central Expressway and Walnut Hill Lane. And yes, I know that calling the area “Preston Hollow Village” is a stretch because that’s really the Meadows, but since when have real estate developers let accuracy get in the way of a name? The Provident folks who put this shopping center together have styled it to give us the look of a deja-vue Northpark Mall, and they are bringing us a Trader Joe’s. How much better can it get?

Free food! The Austin-based fast-casual chain, VertsKebap, will open the doors to its first Dallas proper restaurant on Tuesday at Preston Hollow Village. Which I may refer to hereafter as PHV.

The kabob-place VertsKebap will celebrate the launch of their newest location in Preston Hollow Village at 7949 Walnut Hill Lane with a grand opening event this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. The event with feature one free full size entrée per guest and a raffle to win free VertsKebap for a year.

“We’re very excited to continue to introduce our authentic kebaps to the Dallas market,” says co-CEO, Michael Heyne. “The idea for VertsKebap actually came to my business partner and me when we were studying abroad at SMU during our undergrad. That was the first time we realized kebaps really didn’t exist in the US, so Dallas is a special place for us personally.”

For those unfamiliar with the popular European kebap, they are best described as panini pressed flatbread sandwiches, filled with vertically roasted meats and topped with fresh vegetables and yogurt-based sauces. With a customizable, build-as-you-go ordering process VertsKebap offers more than 250,000 entrée combinations, most with less than 550 calories.

VertsKebap in Preston Hollow Village is the chain’s third restaurant to open in the Dallas area. The chain also has plans to open restaurants in Southlake, Richardson and Plano in 2015.

VertsKebap is a fast casual dining concept built around the popular European döner kebap and one of the first to bring this authentic fare to the United States. The company owners, Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, moved from Germany to Texas to pursue their master’s degrees in business administration at The University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduating in 2011, Heyne and Stein opened the first VertsKebap restaurant near the UT campus and have continued to expand across Austin, Houston and Dallas ever since.
