The Fort Worth Fourth celebration is a family-friendly event on the Trinity River.

Where:  Panther Island Pavilion, 395 Purcey St., Fort Worth. Located along the Trinity River in downtown Fort Worth.

What makes it special: Fireworks are a given when it comes to Independence Day celebrations, but the Fort Worth event offers more, offering a way to cool off and starting long before the sun sets. The gates open at 5 p.m. for all kinds of fun, including getting wet because jumping in the Trinity River is not only allowed but encouraged. Top-rated music starts at 6 p.m. when popular dance band Trey & The Tritones take the Waterfront Stage. “We’ve been doing events all over for three decades, but have always considered Fort Worth our home,” said Trey Gunter, leader of Trey & The Tritones. “We’re looking forward to our first performance at Fort Worth’s Fourth celebration.” They will be followed by country singer Coffey Anderson, known for the song “Mr. Red, White, and Blue,” who will sing at 8:05 p.m.

“We have some different things, and it’s a gift to the community as a free event,” said Matt Oliver, Tarrant Regional Water District spokesperson. “We call it ‘BWOT,’ bring your own tube. From 5 to 8 p.m., you can get in the river. So it’s kind of a cool deal, you can jump directly in the water and watch that first band.”

What:  TRWD has sponsored this family-focused festival and fireworks event for 16 years. The promise is for food, fun, and most importantly swimming in the Trinity River and fireworks for this Fourth of July tradition. Eat, drink, play, dance, and be merry beginning at 5 with fireworks scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

When: 5 to 10 p.m. July 4
