Every Angle is Right With This Stellar Kessler Park Contemporary

I may be in the minority on this view, but it thrills me to see beautiful, well-done, modern and contemporary homes dotting the landscapes that are awash in old ranches and clapboard homes. It adds texture to a neighborhood, showing how our collective tastes have evolved over time. Of course, North Oak Cliff has just recently become Ground Zero for new construction, with East Kessler becoming a hot spot for well-known architects. Our High Caliber Home of the Week presented by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans is one such high-style home with a fantastic architectural pedigree.

“1506 Eastus is the second of two exemplary, architect-designed, modern homes built on one of East Kessler’s best streets by Phil and DJ McCasland,” said listing agent and broker David Griffin of his eponymous firm. “The McCaslands, who have a decades-long track record in construction, told me the goal behind this home was to build an outstanding modern design with no compromises.”

In short, that’s exactly what they accomplished with this warm and inviting modern home. The McCaslands certainly didn’t compromise on space, as the Larson and Pedigo-designed home has 3,997 square feet, four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and tons of open and seamless living space — perfect for entertaining. I certainly can’t see any compromises from here.

“This home, with it’s standing seam metal roof and timeless materials and proportions — including oak hardwood floors, smooth museum finish walls, walnut cabinetry and spacious tall-ceiling rooms — is a testament to the achievement of that goal,” Griffin said.  Naturally, when you’re at the corner of quality and style, expect to pay Park Avenue prices. Griffin has listed this beautiful modern for $1.395 million, and considering the build quality and flexible floor plan, it’s a total value considering how above and beyond this home goes.

The home is situated on a corner lot, and the design takes full advantage of the site to create bright and airy living spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows. The metal detailing and angles are contrasted inside with warm wood cabinetry, a contemporary stone fireplace, and tons of built-ins. A bar, complete with beverage fridge and glass shelves, is just off the living area. The dining room, which benefits from two walls of glass, is perfect for dramatic dinners. There’s also a first-floor master suite, as well as three additional bedrooms upstairs.

“East Kessler is seeing a lot of custom and speculative construction as the demand for new construction with modern floor plans and amenities continues to grow,” Griffin noted.  “With Kessler’s hillside settings, majestic trees and close proximity to Downtown Dallas, the Medical District, and the Design District, 1506 Eastus is a superb option for those who want the best of new construction in a location that’s in the heart of Dallas.”

I also love the outdoor spaces, which includes a great second-story balcony as well as the nice and private courtyard, which could easily accommodate a pool, Griffin said. With this design, these materials, and the plum location, 1506 Eastus has all the makings of a High Caliber Home!
