Foster Elementary School will host a open house for parents and community members interested in Spanish language immersion tonight from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
With early voting for Dallas Independent School District’s board of trustees election coming up quickly, be on the lookout for breakdowns of each race and key endorsements in the days leading up to the polls opening. But before then, we thought we would give you a few other dates to place on your calendar, whether you’re a potential Dallas public school parent or a Realtor looking to give your clients great information.
If you live in Midway Hollow or adjacent and are interested in your incoming kindergartener becoming part of the Spanish language immersion program (or if you’re just interested in seeing what this school has to offer your clients, ahem, Realtors), come to Foster Elementary at 3700 Clover Lane tonight from 5 to 6 p.m. Meet the principal, visit with teachers and other parents, and learn more about the successes of this neighborhood school and its inclusion in the dual-language immersion program.
On Saturday, April 16, Gooch Elementary will hold a Realtor Day. Realtors are invited to come meet Principal Kim Ashmore, tour the campus and learn more about its programs (including, yes, Spanish immersion). Gooch Elementary is located at 4030 Calculus Road, Dallas, and the event will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
And finally, big news. I mean, monumental news. I mean, holy-cow-how-would-you-like-two-years-of-free-college news, news that I’ll have more about in coming weeks. Beginning this fall, Dallas ISD will have eight collegiate academies that will offer the possibility for your high schooler to graduate with two years of free college already under his or her belt. Think of it — your college fund stretches now to potentially cover a Master’s degree, or maybe you can even breathe a little easier about the size of the fund you’re amassing because now you know you could potentially be paying for just two years of college.
