Ugh! Last week I rifled through so many pages (over 100) on a real estate site, in search of a Fort Worth Friday worthy of our audience, that a prompt intervened to make me prove I wasn’t a bot! This week, it seems, I’m spoiled for choice. Several listings have come on the market since last week’s hapless search, including this four-hour old listing.
This stately Georgian-style house in the gated Westside enclave of Bradford Court is as classic as a tweed suit. The interior floor plan of the 1993 build successfully straddles the traditional and contemporary open concept. The nearly 5,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, five-bath house contains a surfeit of abundant space with three living areas.
The public rooms are linked together by wide-plank hardwood floors. At left, on entering, is the formal living room with a fireplace flanked by two built in bookcases. The room has the cozy intimacy of a sitting room.
At right, along the front of the house is the formal dining room, complete with crown molding and chair rails. At 160feet, it easily accommodates a full-length dining table. However the real heart of the house, and, in my opinion, the more engaging rooms are at back, where the visitors’ eyes are immediately drawn on entering through a small barrel-vaulted corridor and an even larger opening between the living areas.
The massive kitchen features a coffee bar, dual sinks, long bar, professional-grade gas cooktop and hood, built-in double ovens, microwave oven, and warming drawer. There is also an attached butler’s pantry.
The second living area at back with its broad beams has an air of grandeur that upstages the formal one at the front. It has a second fireplace with two built-in bookcases on either side. There seems to be a duplicate of everything in this house. In all, the residence has fully 15 rooms. The charming little secondary dining room with a bay window enjoys pool views.
Also downstairs is a wood-paneled study across from the ground floor master suite. The master bath is a luxurious symphony of Carrara marble-a recent upgrade. At the opposite end of the house is another a bonus bedroom ideal for a guest/ granny/ or au pair suite.
Upstairs is a game room and three additional bedrooms. One of the upstairs bedrooms rivals the downstairs master for comfort and luxury.
At back is a rambling saltwater pool with a spa. The lot is largish — nearly one-half acre — and includes a long grass lawn to the right of the pool. The garage has three spaces. Green features include a 16 SEER HVAC system, double-paned low-E windows, and energy-efficient water heaters. HOA dues are $617 per month.
