If you are looking for a choice 76107 location near Fort Worth’s museums in the heart of the west side, you could do a lot worse than Clarke Avenue. Clarke Avenue and its perpendicular sister, Clover Lane, almost constitute a neighborhood by themselves. It’s the kind of area mobile young families locate and form lifelong friendships that endure even after they have upsized or relocated. Of course many stay for a lifetime, comforted by the quiet tree-lined streets in the mostly intact enclave.

The three-bedroom, two- bath Tudor at 4050 Clarke Avenue was built in 1928 and is possessed  of all of the charm and curb appeal characteristic of this street. And value? At about $180 per square foot, this house is priced at almost half of the average per-square-foot cost of homes in the Crestline area. The substantial handsome oak front door under a brick arched porch gives a preview of the vintage quality of materials within.

The living area is sufficiently large and open for contemporary taste. Period tile cloaks one of the 2,100-square-foot bungalow’s fireplaces. Original oak floors have been loved into pristine condition.

I suspect the dining room opening has been enlarged for a more open flow. Trim has almost certainly been added to dress up the arched entry. And there is space enough for the largest gatherings.

Future owners may be tempted to jazz up the kitchen with the latest chef’s appliances and more deluxe surfaces, but the long galley is well planned and includes a 36″ cooktop and is stocked with storage and prep space to spare.HR13455700-1

Steps lead down to a recent addition, increasing the home’s area by 500 square feet that includes an informal living area with a fireplace and wet bar.

Bedrooms are large though — remember, this home was built in 1928— closets are small. Hardwood floors continue into the rest of the house. The master bath has given a reworking for greater functionality.

There is also a wine cellar in the basement. The back could benefit from a little landscaping attention but, is large enough for gardeners or a full-sized pool.

Agent Elizabeth Talermo of Keller Williams is offering 4050 Clarke Avenue for $379,000.
