From Staff Reports

North Texas real estate and community leader Mary Poss has been selected to lead the Ebby Halliday Foundation as its Executive Director. Poss, former acting mayor and mayor pro-tem of the City of Dallas and current top-producing Ebby Halliday Realtors agent, served on the Dallas City Council for eight years and has served in leadership roles across North Texas and nationally. She will continue to serve her residential real estate clients in Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Preston Center Office.

In addition to the City of Dallas, Poss’ extensive public service includes co-chairing the Homeland Security Task Force of the National League of Cities and serving as regional chair of the Homeland Security Committee of the North Central Texas Council of Governments. She has also served on the advisory council of the National League of Cities, the board of directors of the National League of Cities, and as vice-chair of the National League of Cities Transportation and Communications Committee.

Mary Poss met the late Ebby Halliday in the 1980s when Ebby was chairwoman of Keep Texas Beautiful and Poss was involved in Clean Dallas. The two became fast friends as they were both focused on improving communities throughout North Texas.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead Ebby’s namesake foundation,” Poss said. “Throughout her life, Ebby’s dedication to others remained constant. She was a trailblazer in business, however, a successful life to her was about much more than extraordinary sales figures. Ebby was passionate about serving the community she proudly called home.”

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Ebby Halliday Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to carry out the philanthropic vision of the late Ebby Halliday by supporting charitable organizations, including those assisting women and children, as well as individuals and families facing food and shelter insecurity.

“I am very excited with the opportunity grow the Ebby Halliday Foundation’s impact across North Texas,” Poss said. “Among my initial priorities will be making it very easy for each of the Ebby Halliday Companies’ approximately 2,000 agents to get involved with the foundation.”

In addition to growing the Ebby Halliday Foundation’s impact across North Texas, Poss’ responsibilities will include management of its assets and fundraising for significant philanthropic projects.

“Ebby had a saying that she lived by that served her very, very well in her lifetime, ‘Do Something for Someone Every Day,’” Poss recalled. “I am incredibly excited to be a part of continuing, and furthering, Ebby’s impact on the North Texas community.”
