A Charming Greenway Parks Cottage Kate and William Would Love

This is exactly how we imagine Kate and William living in Anmer Hall, the young royals’ country house. They’ve undoubtedly created a traditional, timeless, warm, and tasteful home — just like this charming cottage in Greenway Parks. It has that classic European style passed down from generation to generation. And it’s so refreshing to see a home that actually looks like a home, with nooks and crannies, detailing, color, and pattern.

We have it on good authority the Duchess likes Turkish Kilim rugs in reds, blues, and ivories. She was seen eyeing a light green and soft teal paisley fabric from Mulberry Home while planning her interiors, (don’t ask, you know we have the dirt on everything). Then, of course, there are the masses of inherited antiques. Kate would never be able to make these things work in a space full of gray walls and white trim. Neither could anyone with a penchant for collecting. So it’s pretty exciting for those of us that love a perfect canvas for our treasures, and appreciate a depth of architectural detail, when a truly charming and original home like 5347 Montrose Drive, in Greenway Parks, hits the market.

This gem of a home whispers elegant English countryside even though it’s minutes from downtown Dallas. Built in 1939, there have been additions and remodels throughout the years, all sympathetic to the original character of the house. Even the addition of a guest suite over the garage looks as if it’s been there for years.

“I knew it would be special inside from the moment I saw the courtyard,” listing agent Becky Frey of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s said. “It’s so warm and inviting.”

The centerpiece of this home is the massive wooden spiral staircase leading from the living room to a second floor study. “One of the previous owners added on the vaulted family room in the 1980s and had that entire staircase shipped in from New York,” Frey said. “The house is filled with special little spots, and there’s always a place to sit in a perfectly comfortable chair and read.”

The 4,875-square-foot home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and one powder bath. There are courtyards at the entrance as well as off of the kitchen, and a large flagstone patio that overlooks lush landscaping and the green belt. If you are not familiar with the famous greenway, it’s one of the many attractions of Greenway Parks. It’s a common area where owners can host parties, so you have the benefit of a huge backyard that is maintained by the homeowner’s association. Win-win.

At $1.9 million, it might just make a perfect American hideaway for Kate and Wills. The greenway commons would be perfect spot for Prince George’s next birthday party don’t you think?
