“For most folks, their home is the biggest investment they own,” said Bruce Graf, a home remodeler with more than 30 years of experience in working with multiple generations of families.

Graf has helped families remodel a house to accommodate growth, and then returned years later to adapt their home to special health needs so they can continue aging-in-place within that same residence filled with lots of memories.

Graf helps empty-nester couples see the non-performing assets in their current home. A few examples may include unused bathtubs, sunken living rooms, and narrow hallways.

“These areas are often unused real estate, but more importantly, they can be a catalyst to slips and falls,” states Graf. He looks at ways to create a level entry and remodel a space so you can live comfortably on one level all without it screaming “This is senior-equipped!”

Subtle changes can be made that dramatically adapts a wheelchair into the entire home. “You may not need a wheelchair now, but by incorporating these changes, you are being proactive for the ‘what-ifs’ that life brings, and increasing your home value for the future buyer,” says Graf.

If this sounds like an issue you want to learn more about, Graf will expand on the topic of aging-in-place as the featured luncheon speaker at the May 19 North Dallas Woman’s Club monthly meeting at Prestonwood Country Club. Contact Carol Doepfner at 972-233-9722 or Dottie Hatch at 972-418-9041 for luncheon reservations.

Additionally, you can reach out to Bruce Graf at [email protected] or 972-571-6076 and view additional before-and-after photos at grafdevelopments.com.
