Boat Club Road, with its lakefront location on Eagle Mountain Lake, can be pricey. Like over $2 million pricey. Like 9931 Boat Club Road, which we paid tribute to, less than a year ago, and just sold this week.
So I was delighted to find this 1,200-square-foot pied a terre on Boat Club Road at almost one-tenth the cost of the Mediterranean Manse down the road.
Not too many years ago, this condominium building at 9999 Boat Club (wouldn’t you love to have that street number?) would have looked uncomfortably dated. Fifty years later, the 1970 vintage building with its “blend into nature” esthetic looks classic.
With the help of attentive maintenance and edgy updates, Apartment 401 syncs handily with the 21st century.
The action is on the second floor, reached from a winding iron stairway. The plan is quite obviously open, overlooked by the kitchen.The spacious principle room is given added scale by the beamed, bead-board, cathedral ceiling.
The sweeping space screams merry, social, non-distancing. The floors are laminate (disappointing, but practical, I suppose, for a lake house) however the color has been selected to complement the stone fireplace at the end of the room.

The two bedrooms are at ground level. The master bedroom and bathroom are completely revetted with bead-board and separated by natural knotty pine barn doors. All of this calculated rusticity might be bothersome in town but in this sylvan setting — if I may be allowed to alliterate — I think it works.
Each of the two bedrooms has a resort suitable bathroom with jazzy, super-modern, full-body spray bars and heated towel racks.
This property appeals on so many levels that it would suit an array of buyers. One imagines a retiree in search of an idyllic downsize, or a second shelter, weekend retreat, 20 minutes from the center of town — not an unusual asset in Fort Worth.
