[Editor’s Note: This year has been a decade, right? So many things happened, lots of things were postponed, and houses continued to sell despite it all. While the Daltxrealestate.com team takes a hot minute this holiday season to recharge the ol’ Energizers, we’re serving up our very favorite stories from 2020. Enjoy!]

Seth: Merry Christmas! This week we are taking time off to focus on our loved ones, napping and getting new bow ties — so we are sharing one of our Tarrant County Tuesday’s favorite stories from 2020. This listing made us tingle all the way!

“Detail.” It’s a word in the residential construction that is grossly overused. Along with that word you can add: “quality,” “unique,” “craftsman,” and of course, “custom.”

It’s too bad that builders and homes don’t have to pass a test before they are allowed to use those terms when describing their products.

Family-1-1
All of the wood in home is either clear cedar or straight grain walnut. No MDF here.

In this day and age where “bigger is better,” and builders and homeowners think the price reflects quality, taste, and detail, it’s a pleasure when Tarrant County Tuesday finds a home that will blow your mind.

Mixture of Influences

What happens when you mix Frank Lloyd Wright with Japanese influences and Feng Shui? Talk about unique, custom, and detail.

Designed in 2005 by the renowned Minnesota architectural firm of SALA Architects, this home is truly a one-of-a-kind home. It’s a home that will never go out of style because it is its own style.

Family-1-1
There is almost no direct sunlight into this home, even with 77 windows.

The entire project, from initial design to completion of construction, took over 30 months. According to the owner, trades and craftsmen who worked on the home took such pride and ownership in their work that it wasn’t uncommon for areas in the home to be torn apart and redone in order to get the smallest detail correct. How many homes can claim that?

Deep overhanging eves, as well as generous porches and patios, allow for the perfect amount of sunlight to fill the home, but with minimal direct sun. While the home was built nearly 15 years ago, there is very little, if any, evidence of sun damage to the natural materials in the home.

Inside And Outside Detail

What kind of home has it’s own logo? What kind of home has hand-crafted and hand-placed light fixtures, custom cabinet designs, and over 70 windows? If you’re getting goosebumps reading this, then this is the home for you!

The quality and attention to detail of 4808 Bill Simmons Road doesn’t stop with you leave the home. The entire property, just over two acres, is just as exact and immaculate as the inside.

Family-1-1
Every facet of home is purposeful and exact.

From the varying heights the grass is mowed to the PGA sanctioned sand in the trap by the putting green, every detail is well thought out and attained.

If You Don’t Get It – You’re Not Going To Get It

This 5,277-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-and-one-half-bathroom home isn’t for everyone. If you are a fan of turrets, soaring ceilings, confusing roof lines, monotonous landscaping, obnoxious, ostentatious, or uninspiring homes, you’re probably going to “swipe left” on 4808 Bill Simmons Road. And that’s OK. There are, unfortunately, plenty of homes for that type of buyer to see in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

However, if you are the kind of home lover that enjoys being inspired each and every morning, the kind that understands it’s not how big or elaborate the design but the true attention to detail in the home — if you are a buyer that truly “gets it” — then this is a home to see.
