A Tale of Two Castles: One is Worthy of Cinderella, The Other Lacks Enchantment

I have always been a sucker for castles. Perhaps it is because as a child I loved the movie Cinderella.

The cute little mice who served as Cinderella’s hype team while also helping with the dishes and the mopping, they always kept her hopping … It was a happy ending with Cinderella riding away with her beloved toward the enchanted castle. The enchantment level of Cinderella’s castle was always a 10/10.

Ever since then, I have always been intrigued with castles. If I am perfectly honest, however, those mice that do the housework are what really get me excited at this stage in my life. I would be willing to work out an arrangement with ‘ol GusGus for some extra kernels of corn if he would clean my bathroom.

Alas, I digress.

It just so happens that as I was perusing the listings this week I came across not one but two castles. It is always amazing to me that here in the U.S., people build a castle as their home. A structure meant to keep village raiders at bay in Europe are built in Kissimmee, Florida, and Oakland Township, Michigan.

Let us visit Kissimmee first, shall we?

The first castle is located at 3130 Castle Cove Court, Kissimmee, Florida. It is listed for just over $1 million and has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and has 7,844 square feet. It sits on two acres of land.

Now at first glance, it fits all the castle criteria but there is something slightly off. The enchantment quality takes a ginormous hit when you notice the glaringly white garage door that can be found at your local home improvement store.

The interior is robust with stone walls.

One slip getting out of the tub and your head will pop like a melon.

Now, the one feature that is pretty standard in all castles is the draw bridge. You pull that puppy up and you are safely tucked away in your fortress of solitude.

The mistake here was putting a faux draw bridge inside the house. The enchantment score is now at zero. Let us move on to Michigan.

This absolutely stunning castle is located at 2009 Victoria HI, Oakland Township, Michigan. This castle has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, almost 11,000 square feet, and is listed for $2.2 million. According to the description, this castle has hidden doors, hidden rooms, a hidden staircase, and hidden passageways. It has an actual moat and drawbridge and the drawbridge is not in the house.

I love this castle. Love it! The enchantment score is through the roof. The design of the interior is gorgeous, elegant. This is hands down one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen with a lot of fun little touches.

Ladies and gentlemen, the front door. It is absolutely incredible.

Downstairs there is a built-in tavern that overlooks a large game room. The only thing missing here are busty wenches doling out the grog.

From the game room, there are passageways. How much fun would this home be at Halloween? The parties would be a blast!

The only negative thing I can say about this house is that there simply aren’t enough pictures to go with the listing.

Needless to say, this castle has enchantment galore and is worthy of our wonderful Cinderella. I have no doubt they have a team of little mice who are more than happy to help with all the chores. I mean, that’s going to be a lot of dusting.
