A Majestic Mediterranean Revival Estate

There’s something about a Mediterranean Revival estate that exudes luxury, warmth, and comfort. They are graceful, practical, and perfect for life in climates like Dallas.

The Mediterranean Revival style gained popularity in America in the1920s when huge estates were built in California and Florida, inspired by those along the Italian and Spanish coastlines. It’s not surprising they are often the stylistic choice of film and television stars, and, of course, a well-known ginger-haired prince!

When you consider the lifestyle they offer, the balance between natural and manmade elements, and the unity between interior and exterior spaces, there is not a style better suited for Dallas.

This Mediterranean Revival home was built-in 2012 by Phillip Jennings Custom Homes, one of the city’s premier luxury home builders. Owner Phillip Fristoe brought in award-winning architect Wesley Harder with the Harder Organization to collaborate on the project. The result is nothing less than magnificent with 6,444 square feet, three ensuite bedrooms upstairs, a downstairs owner’s suite, two powder baths, two home offices, and a hidden loft!

Everywhere you look, the quality is immediately evident. From the triple barrel-vaulted and beamed ceiling in the family room with a wall of transom-topped French doors to the wine room with individual terra-cotta lined storage for 60 bottles, exquisite attention to detail is everywhere.

The house was thoughtfully laid out to provide complete privacy in the downstairs owner’s suite with a private patio and views of the beautiful resort-style backyard.

The backyard oasis features a pool, spa, and putting green as well as a patio with a fireplace and outdoor kitchen. Gail McCrory refreshed the landscape for the present owners in 2016, and the interiors of the home were updated by Bonnie Jones.

“I think the unique thing about this Mediterranean Revival estate is the courtyard areas,” Compass Real Estate listing agent Michelle Wood said. “There is one off the entry hall accessible from the office and owners suite and another off the dining room. It has a beautiful water feature, so you can open up the dining room doors and enjoy the sound of the fountain. Off the kitchen, you’ll find another courtyard with an herb garden. The indoor-outdoor relationship of the house is really great. It’s a unique, comfortable, and casually elegant home.”

Michelle Wood and Tiffany Jackson have this magnificent Mediterranean Revival estate at 4345 Manning Lane, listed for $3.3 million.
