No Jedi Mind Trick: Houston’s ‘Darth Vader House’ Finds a New Owner

The Darth Vader House is at 3201 University Blvd. You’d expect it on the Death Star.

Even the Dark Side has a price.

The Houston property known as the Darth Vader House has been sold, according to multiple reports.

The four-bedroom home was built in 1992 by plastic surgeon Jean Cukier, who wanted the architect to design it differently than the other traditional homes in the West University Place neighborhood. Cukier wanted a home that looked like a stealth fighter jet.

Architect Lynn Swisher Spears took it from there and the 7,040-square-foot home has a look that others called the “Darth Vader House.” The structure has a roof that’s slightly angled and flat on top with short stone walls and clerestory windows that give it the look of Vader’s headgear with the lights on.

Listing agents Wade Knight and Nadia Carron told the Houston Chronicle they can’t reveal the new owner or how much the property fetched, which, of course, you wonder whether their lack of knowledge has anything to do with Jedi Mind Tricks.

The deal was reportedly closed on Nov. 19. It was originally listed for $4.3 million and its last asking price was $3.095 million.

The inside was full of modern architecture, including a sunken living room, LED strip lights throughout, floor-to-ceiling windows, and more. It appeared homier than Vader’s cold quarters on the Death Star, and it was free of any Ewok infestation.

But the Darth Vader House has another owner. Thanks to that person, it endured a better fate than when we last saw Vader’s headgear.
