Start Spooky Season Right With Tickets to Preservation Dallas’ Fall Cemetery Tour

Preservation Dallas has the most interesting architectural tours in town. When we spoke to David Preziosi this summer after picking up our Preservation Dallas Achievement Award, he could not wait to spill about the fall architectural tour that Preservation Dallas had planned.

If you’re ready to join some strangers in a cemetery on the day before Halloween, you’re in luck — Preservation Dallas has arranged a tour to explore Dallas’ most notable cemeteries where many historic Dallasites are interred. It’s Preservation Dallas’ first in-person event since 2020 and it’s the spooky season kickoff we need.

As the daughter of a geneaology-obsessed mother, I know what we’re doing Halloween weekend.

The day commences at 9 a.m. with a symposium at Hillcrest Mausoleum, followed by walk-throughs of cemeteries throughout the city scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spot historic grave markers and statuaries, as well as the landscapes they inhabit. The one-day showcase will feature some of the most famous burial sites in the city, including local architects, business leaders, baseball players, as well as some good guys and some bad guys.

The tour includes the symposium and tour at Hillcrest Mausoleum as well as seven cemetery stops.  Tickets are $30 for Preservation Dallas members and $40 for the public.  Reservations are required and non-refundable and can be purchased here.

The goosebumps, however, come free of charge.
