April is coming to an end today — and not soon enough for our estimation, as it was probably the longest April in our memories. And starting Friday, we can inch back out, wearing masks and practicing “social distancing.” No more than 25 percent occupancy in malls, theaters, and restaurants, if they are even open. We were all, most of us, “sheltering in place,” working from home if we could or if we were not one of the designated “essential” state businesses.

Some of which did extremely well. Madison Gardner of Lawns of Dallas tells me his business grew so much in April, he has had to hire on additional crews. Builders have been building. Realtors have been selling, albeit carefully, cautiously, practicing social distancing. Title companies have been closing because the D-FW real estate community adapted to the challenges in front of them.

But we have all been spending WAY more time at home. Even my husband, who has continued to deliver babies, has been home waaaay more.

So I ask, what rooms in your home did you appreciate the most? What rooms were your sanity saver? Did you devour your back yard and garden as soon as the rain cleared? Do you finally appreciate the media room?

Did You Fashion a Dedicated Home Office?

Our screened porch was a lifesaver.

It was like going into another world and we ate outside as soon as it warmed up.

Our media room suddenly became a hotbed of activity.

First of all, the Peloton is up there, and cycling through the daily coronavirus pressers was the only way to survive them. I learned, finally, how to use the remote control (why are they not all universal?) and enjoyed the $24K TV we have seldom used.

The sound system really made it feel like being in a movie theater. It was like finding a great pair of shoes I had totally forgotten in my closet. Agents are telling me media rooms are coming back!
