A Livable, Modern Mediterranean in The Creeks of Preston Hollow

10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-facade-1024x768We love a livable home, especially a livable luxury home. So many multi-million dollar homes are filled with rooms that rarely, if ever, get used, but that’s certainly not the case with this modern Mediterranean at 10731 Bridge Hollow Court in the Creeks of Preston Hollow.

For those of you unfamiliar with that subdivision, it’s between Strait Lane and Inwood Road, just south of Royal Lane. Yep, the honeypot of CEOs, sports stars, and those with extremely discerning taste.

“It’s a timeless Mediterranean and it will ever go out of style,” Aaron Carroll with Allie Beth Allman & Associates said. Carroll is co-listing the three-story, 12,842-square-foot property with Blake Eltis for $8.5 million.

When it starts with tumbled travertine floors, diamond plaster finished walls, and groin-vaulted ceilings at the entry, you know you’re in for something special.

Built in 2007 on just over an acre of land, the six-bedroom, eight-full-and-two-half-bath home sits on a quiet cul-de-sac and backs up to Bachmann Creek — so it’s extremely private.

As if the location is not enough, David Stocker, principal with Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro, was the architect. If you’re building a house, SHM are the go-to firm that understand not only how to create gorgeous houses, but how to create homes that stand the test of time and are truly livable.

“Every single room is 100 percent usable,” Carroll said. “The family uses every square foot. There is absolutely no wasted space and the floor plan lends itself to any demographic. It’s great for raising small children or for college kids returning home for the holidays.”

The house is reminiscent of what you’d see in Santa Barbara or Palm Beach, capturing that indoor/outdoor California lifestyle. Despite our odd freeze and a couple of intensely hot summer months, this is a style well suited for Dallas as we do love to let the party flow from inside to out. This house is built for entertaining, with the main living areas wrapping around the gorgeous pool and patio.

The living room has an impressive timbered ceiling and twin carved limestone fireplaces anchor each end of the room. You can step out onto both front and rear loggias from this room through massive glass doors that allow light to flood the home.

“There is so much light, that when I show the house I never need to turn on the lights,” Carroll said.10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Living-3-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Living-Close-up-4-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-living-overview-1024x768

The formal dining room has large arched steel windows, and we love the fact you can head straight down a stone passageway to the subterranean wine vault and tasting room.10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-dining-1024x768

It’s all here, and of course, opens into the family room with yet another fireplace and a spectacular view of the backyard.10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-2nd-living-to-kitchen-2-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Kitchen-1-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-breakfast-1024x768A separate ground-floor wing houses the master suite with his-and-hers bathrooms (check out the shower view) and there is another fireplace and another magnificent timbered ceiling.10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Master-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Master-2-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Master-Bath-1024x76810731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-Master-Tub-1024x768

You can take the stairs or zip up to the third floor via the elevator to another living area and five more bedroom suites or down to the lower level — remember, this is where the wine is, very important in our book. There’s also a full-sized bar and a dramatic home theatre bathed in red and gold. No worries, you can work off the wine and popcorn in the home’s gym.

10731-Bridge-Hollow-Court-theater-1024x768As if the interior is not enough, remember, the house sits on over an acre of land and Harold Leidner is responsible for the fabulous landscaping. It’s truly resort like with expansive patios, an infinity pool, water fountains, a spa, and an outdoor kitchen. Even the trees over the creek have had lighting added.

Luxurious livability in a fabulous location is a rare find. Carroll had over 70 Realtors at his early December agent preview. That’s impressive at any time of year and practically unheard of in December. “Every agent said it was one of their favorite homes they’d ever seen,” Carrol said. We certainly agree.

Now how do we get back to that wine cellar?
