4707-Chapel-HillIt’s the day after Father’s Day, but Dad would have loved this house on SO many different levels: the acreage, the authentic NYC fireman pole downstairs from the card room to the huge family room,  the indoor gymnasium, the kitchen, the media room where he could be cooking a steak while catching Inglorious Bastards, and even seeing White Rock Lake from his upstairs study through leaded glass windows.

ALMOST ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

As for mom, well, she’ll be even happier. Her closet is bigger than a starter home, has a chandelier, two stories, and views of the lake from the natural-light emitting windows. Perfect place to hang ball-gowns. And like my husband says, when Mom’s happy, he’s happy!

This is one of the most incredible family homes in town, known as “the Gem of the Cloisters”. It sits in a higher part of this exclusive gated neighborhood near the lake, where Congressman Pete Sessions once lived with his first wife, who still has the family home behind this spread. (That was decent of him.) Word is she might consider selling off some of her property, so if the buyer of this Cloister Gem wants to acquire more property, he or she certainly can.

4707-Chapel-Hill-diningNestled on one acre, the home was built in 1991 but the current owners, only the second family to own the home, remodeled and added mucho, such as the over-the-top media room and wine room.

4707 Chapel Hill is loaded to the gill with five bedrooms, five full and two half baths, six living areas, recently added media room with full kitchenette, library, formal study, home office, first floor gymnasium, climate controlled wine closet with tasting room, pool, spa, sitting area or additional study off the master, and a fireman’s pole down from the card room to the family room. There is a study off the kitchen for mistress or manager of the house. The great room is enormous at 26 by 35 feet with a stone fireplace and  carved mantle.

4707-Chapel-Hill-master-bathListed with Ebby’s Penny Rivenbark, it was originally priced at $4,900,000. Now Penny has whittled it all down to $3,995,000, every bit of it. And there is a LOT! That’s about $423. per square foot and this house is as loaded as the USS George H.W. Bush. You could never, ever reproduce all that is in this home today at that price.

The wine room and the studies, I get. The master closet(s) on steroids, DONE. But I had to ask: why a fireman’s pole?

Penny says it was installed by the previous owner, who built the house, and it MAY have had something to do with the 9/11 tragedy. It’s a real fireman’s pole from a New York City fire station. It was installed by the previous owners who acquired it around the time of the attacks on the World Trade center, the Pentagon, and the loss of Flight 93.4707-Chapel-Hill-top-of-fireman-pole

4707-Chapel-Hill-bottom-of-fireman-pole“This is a family home designed for kids,” says Penny. “The fireman’s pole is a quick way to get down the stairs, or could can take one of the many mini-staircases beside the grand staircase in the foyer!”

Real quick!

4707 Chapel Hill also has a guest suite on the first floor that is separate from the main home, with a private entrance, plus a private patio porch. Penny says this is much better than relegating guests to a back nanny’s quarters

There are several outdoor areas for entertaining, plus a roomy three car garage.

With it’s new reduced price, Penny plans to hold 4707 Chapel Hill Rd. open on the tour Wednesday. Asking price NOW is $3,995,000. On East Dallas tour Wednesday.

And I want that closet! Yeah, the house is a little womped up, but take away those heavy duty furnishings and drapes, change out the heavy rustic light fixtures,  lighten up the walls, and you will have yourself a masterpiece. Remember Joan Eleazer’s Meadowbrook?

Now here’s some inside scoop to help you buy this home: apparently the owners own a winery in Napa. I’m thinking a little yearly visit to that winery and some free tastings might just be thrown into the deal to sweeten the vintage, agree?4707-Chapel-Hill-guesthouse
