Regardless of whether the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil did or did not see its shadow earlier this month, it seems spring is on its way, and right along with that are spring flowers, spring cleaning, and spring projects. Ideas for all the above will be available at the third annual Fort Worth Home & Garden Show Friday through Sunday at Will Rogers Memorial Center.

Billed as a home improvement and outdoor living show, the three-day event will provide a view of the latest solutions and benefits for home and garden problems and projects. Show attendees will be able to find answers to what plants and materials work in North Texas from business owners who can provide it.

“What’s amazing about these shows is the vendors are local,” said show manager Pam Rogers. “That’s the foundation of the event. These are your neighbors.”

Questions Asked; Questions Answered

Construction professionals will be available to answer questions, and local vendors will display the latest in home technology, home flooring, landscaping materials, stylish furniture, and remodeling options.

“I think the most important thing you can find at a home and garden show is free, expert advice,” Rogers said. “You can shop and compare prices without having to drive from store to store. No one likes to do that.”

Fort Worth Home & Garden Show Offers Post-Pandemic Trends

Invaluable, too, Rogers said is the inspiration for home projects. One strong trend emerging from the pandemic was the increase in outdoor living as a lifestyle choice. Increasingly homeowners are installing outdoor kitchens and adding pergolas to enhance their backyards.

“The ability to take the inside out has become important,” she said. “Instead of adding on additions they’re creating these outdoor retreats with pools, pizza ovens, and furniture groupings. People just want to get outside. The pandemic taught us all the value of getting out of the house.”

Visitors to this free exposition can participate in master gardener seminars and shop plant sales, asking questions of what materials work best in the North Texas climate. Also available will be children’s activities, cooking demonstrations and tastings, pet adoptions, dog training, and giveaways. The Blackland Prairie Raptors Center will highlight a show with live birds from the Texas Raptor Center. A list of scheduled activities and lectures is found here.

Talking Dirty Laundry

The public also will have an opportunity to meet The Laundry Guy Patric Richardson, a cleaning expert and fashion pro. He’s known from HGTV’s series The Laundry Guy and hosts a summer program known as Laundry Camp. He founded The Laundry Evangelist, a cleaning product company, and has authored books, including “Laundry Love.” He holds a degree in fashion merchandising, apparel, and textiles.

“There’s a little bit of something for everyone,” Rogers said.
