The Walls Are ArtA Modern Custom

Sometimes you’re scrolling through houses looking for one to feature and then it just appears. As if to say, ‘Call off the search, my child, I have arrived.’ That’s the case with this one. It’s gor-ge-ous. And listed with Oak Cliff’s own Kay Wood from Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Int’l. Realty. She knows the area, she loves the area, and she’d never leave the area. Same with these sellers, they’re headed just around the corner and whoever snags this one is going to be jumping for joy.

The Walls Are Art

First of all, the sellers are both in the art field. I mean, could it be more obvious? There are artistic touches throughout not the least of which is that freaking work of art (literally) in the hallway bathroom. Designed by a New York artist, the basketball wallpaper is basically an art installation on all four walls.

When they purchased the home, it was mid-remodel. You’d think they had a hand in selecting the finishout because it’s just that dang good, but nope, this was almost all the remodeler. Obviously, another design superstar.

A Modern Custom

The primary bedroom is at the back of the house with vaulted ceilings. Wood said that had to be an add-on by a previous owner, because it’s definitely not of the era. That’s what she loves the most about this home. It’s been modified to make it so incredibly livable, but it still feels just as cute and Craftsman as the day it was constructed.

The open floorplan definitely helps with the modern-day vibe and then there’s the storage. Wood said the storage in this house is out of this world. The built-ins I’m obsessed with are on either side of the Jack and Jill bathroom. It’s a literally chest of drawers just built right in there ready for you to maximize your space.

Wood said the built-ins on either side of the fireplace were always there — it’s just the way it was — but this particular set has gotten a legit facelift.

Since moving in, they added turf in the backyard and professional landscaping too.

If you need one more reason to be obsessed with this house, it’s the location. Walking distance to Wayward Coffee, Nova, PHD, Twelve Hills Nature Preserve, The Kessler, and every other amazing local spot that you will likely walk to every day. Just maybe not today unless you pack on your full-length puffer.

Wood has 927 N. Edgefield Avenue listed at $875,000. The open house is slated from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21. Get there early because I can only imagine it will be PACKED.
