Remodeled predominantly in 2019, this house was (and is) way ahead of its time. Dave Perry-Miller’s Michele Balady Beach said it’s just incredible. From the moment you step inside. It’s so filled with light and the Japanese Maple out back is HUGE and frames the windows. She said it’s breathtaking year-round, but in Spring it’s really, really something.
The other most fun thing she said? It has a spool. Bigger than a spa, not quite a pool. IT’S A SPOOL. Surrounded by Trex decking that is basically the go-to of many an architect I’ve spoken with. This makes sense because at the head of this redesign was Mark Shektar of Graphic+Design+Group. And did he nail it or did he freaking nail it?
There’s like too much to love in here. The quad skylights in the office. The doors that fold away so the deck is really your new conference room. The super chic wood slat accent wall in the living room. The built-in custom cabinetry in the dining room. The sleek primary suite with a sliding glass door serves as a piece of freaking art because again, that backyard. Then, there are the countertops in the Primary bathroom. AHHHHH. All the countertops really and the light fixtures. THE LIGHT FIXTURES.
It’s just one of those homes where there’s a new jaw-dropper every inch. It’s so understated and so stunning. The idea of restraint and just the right amount of something special. It’s what we’re all living for, right?
I feel like I could write a love limerick about those floors, too. They’re solid red oak and they run throughout the entire house.
Of course, it really doesn’t hurt that the homeowners have the most exquisite taste and an art collection that’s pure perfection either. There isn’t a ton of color in this house, but it’s not needed, all the textures and materials take over.
I mean, we’ve covered the design now let’s consider the mechanical updates and see if you don’t agree this is THE PERFECT HOUSE. In 2019 they replaced all the A/C duct work and the A/C unit for the back of the house, they replaced the gas water heater in the guest bathroom, and they added a custom entertainment center including your boy, Dolby Surround Sound.
The switches are all dimmers and the pool was resurfaced in fall 2019. The crawlspace has been encapsulated and two dehumidifiers were installed. Gotta, GOTTA protect those gorgeous floors.
