Views Are Tops at Downtown Loft With Eight-Foot Windows, Rooftop Pool Deck

If stellar downtown views are on your “must-have” list, then today’s Tuesday Two Hundred will exceed your expectations.

With south-facing, eight-foot windows and a rooftop pool deck, the Soco Urban Loft Condo at 1122 Jackson St. No. 904 offers splendid skyline views of downtown Dallas.

But the appeal of this condo isn’t confined to views. Think polished concrete floors, cool-burning LED lighting, a huge custom walk-in California closet with desk and safe, and lots of authentic details that remind you of the building’s 1925 construction (the building was once a railroad terminal and warehouse, completely reimagined as hip condos 11 years ago).

Unit 904 is technically a 1-1, but because it’s a loft, the 1,272 square feet flow together and feel open. It was listed June 3 by Jennifer Shindler at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate for $224,000, the largest and most expensive of the four units in this building currently for sale. Its price-per-square-foot is $176, which is on the low end compared to the other three, listed at $174, $184, and $209 per square foot. With such a great look and solid price, we think unit 904 won’t be on the market long.

Let’s start with those views! The Soco Urban Loft Condos are located near Griffin and Commerce streets in the southwest part of downtown. From the unit’s south-facing windows, you can see Reunion Tower, Omni Dallas Hotel, and the Belo building. From the rooftop pool deck, the views are panoramic.

The interior of the unit is industrial chic, with 11-foot ceilings, exposed ductwork, and exposed brick on the window wall. Those windows, by the way, have solar blinds and drapes for privacy. Love that chandelier above the dining room table; sadly, it is not included in the sale, though, so the next owner will just have to add their own signature lighting to the space.

One of the issues buyers often have with condos is HOA fees, which can be exorbitant. Not so here: monthly fees are $484 and include blanket insurance, exterior maintenance, front yard maintenance, maintenance of common areas, management fees, reserves, trash, water/sewer, and full use of facilities (newly furnished gym, yoga room, community room, and rooftop pool and patio grills).

Bonus: this unit includes a same-floor dedicated storage closet, bike racks, and an underground gated parking spot.

The open kitchen has granite countertops with a hand-cut gray tile backsplash, which are laid vertically, instead of horizontally, giving the area an extra visual pop. The stainless steel appliances include a ceramic top stove and warming oven, and a contemporary pot-filler faucet in the sink rotates for cooking convenience.

Here’s a better look at the far end of the loft, which has so much character and a bright, open feel. In the top of these three photos, you can see the industrial-style ceiling fan and lighting.

The bedroom area is just to the left of the entry, large enough for a king-sized bed plus side tables. The bathroom is made for relaxation, with an over-sized deep soaking bubbler tub with heated back and marble subway tile bath surround—there’s even a heated towel rack. The large china sink has high-end Kohler fixtures and a full-size washer-dryer space is nearby.

The custom walk-in California Closet is huge, not that you can tell from the photo above. But take my word for it—once that legion of clothing is removed, you’ll see an organized space with a computer/printer desk and jewelry safe.

Last but not least, the rooftop pool deck. So posh!

I think this downtown loft is a great catch for well under $300K—leave us a comment with your thoughts.
