Even if you’re relatively new to Dallas, you’re probably aware of White Rock Lake and the amenities that edge the popular body of water. But you may not have heard of the historic enclave called the Peninsula — and why living there can feel like you’re vacationing in place.
Local lore says that the community was established in 1927 as a place for people who lived in worked in Dallas to vacation and spend the weekend in charming lake cottages. It’s still a popular spot — as you can tell by the stories we’ve written about the 280-home neighborhood over the years.
So when we saw this adorable two-bedroom, one-bath cottage at 9423 Peninsula Drive was for rent, we knew we had to point potential renters that direction.
The 1,800 square foot home is beautiful from the curb forward, with a great porch perfect for getting to know your neighbors, and attractive landscaping.
Inside, the home has been lovingly updated, but those great architectural details present in those vintage Peninsula homes remain, including those gorgeous hardwoods and numerous built-ins.
A nicely-sized living room features a stunningly intricate ceiling detail and a beautiful fireplace. A generously-sized dining room means that you can still easily host dinner parties — no card tables necessary here. A second living area could make a great study or office since it has a separate entrance.
