Two North Oak Cliff Abodes With Open Houses Sunday

Sometimes we get listings pitched to us that just don’t quite make it in time for one of our regular features, but when we take a look at them, we realize that they’re too good to pass up. Such is the case this week with two North Oak Cliff homes that were pitched by the same Realtor.

Because of the crazy holiday deadlines we were looking at, we weren’t able to include these two homes listed by Melissa O’Brien with Dave Perry-Miller InTown in this week’s Open Houses of the Week.

But if you are eschewing a second day of Christmas shopping sales for a house hunt instead, you really do owe it to yourself to check out these homes, which are a two minute drive or a seven minute walk from each other, making it super easy to visit both this Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

We should also mention that both homes are also zoned for North Oak Cliff’s sought-after Rosemont Elementary and Middle schools, and are just minutes from downtown, Bishop Arts, and Stevens Park Golf Course.

O’Brien’s first listing is a charming and well-maintained 1936 Traditional at 1228 Lausanne Ave. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms and 3,187 square feet of space, this abode has been home to only two families since it was built so many decades ago.

Wonderful original details dot the home, from the original hardwoods and dentil moldings, to the stately rooms. Outside, a backyard offers a diving pool and spa.

Yes, it does need some updates, but with another family’s love and vision, this $800,000 home could easily adopt a fresh take, especially with its fairly open floor plan and large kitchen.

The second home is located at 1214 N. Clinton Ave., and if you’re looking for something more completely move-in ready, this 1922 Prairie-style home is an impeccable choice.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ingalls House, this home is on one of the prettiest streets in Dallas, with an amazing set-back and walk up rich with trees and well-tended gardens that lead you to the expected (it is a Prairie, after all) large front porch.

Inside, a central fireplace anchors nearly every living space. Not one room is without a view, since windows line them. A sleek, custom kitchen is substantial and looks over a backyard with a pool and outdoor entertaining space, as well as the interior common areas.

All three bathrooms have been modernized as well, but still keep in mind the overall feel of the home. All three bedrooms are generously sized, and bright and airy, thanks to the abundant windows.

The home is listed for $869,000.
