Tuesday Two Hundred: Midcentury Modern Remodel in Lochwood is Just About Perfect

Oh my goodness, you guys, did I find the house for you to ogle this morning! Seriously, this home is going to be gone in the blink of an eye, thanks to the fantastic work these sellers did on flipping this beautiful Midcentury Modern in Lochwood. Really, homes are flying off the market in the $200K price range, so I am glad I caught this gorgeous, updated 1955 ranch at 11240 Flamingo.

This adorable 1,476-square foot home is listed by Realtor Diana Boswell for $229,900. That breaks down to $156 per square foot — a fantastic price for a fast-rising, inside-the-loop neighborhood.

This home has tons of great details, including a gorgeous new exterior paint job with updated trim. I love the new decomposed granite walkway in front that circles around the landscaping, as well as the stained cedar trellis over the built-in planter. It mixes so well with the frosted glass and wood front door and really gives it more of a modern flair than a Midcentury modern, and adds another layer of visual impact to the home’s curb appeal.

Inside you’ll find a typical 3/2 ranch layout, with formal living and dining rooms open to one another. These brilliant sellers, though, they realized that more and more families want the kitchen to be a social space, so they added a pass-through with an eat-in bar opposite the kitchen sink. You’ll love the hardwood floors, the updated lighting with modern remote-operated fans and recessed fixtures, too.

The kitchen is just gorgeous, and just what buyers in Lochwood and East Dallas are looking for. It’s open to the breakfast area, which has a view of the backyard via a full-light framed door. The washer and dryer have been corralled into a utility closet with bi-fold shutter doors, too, leaving the space clean and open. You’ll notice the stainless steel appliances, sure, but what you’re really into is that fantastic rectangular tile on the floor, which works so well with the bright, new cabinets, the granite counters, and the glass mosaic backsplash. Of course, let’s not overlook the gorgeous stainless steel apron sink. I love a good monochrome kitchen!

There are two baths, and both have been updated with fresh vanities and tile. The hall bath has a small single-bowl top vanity and a tub/shower combo, but if you’re looking for style, check out the master bath. It has a frameless walk-in shower, a curved top ceramic vanity, and designer fixtures. Gorgeous stuff!

The backyard has been freshly landscaped, but the buyer is going to want to do something about that patio. It needs a cover! Maybe build a cool shade, or get one of those nifty Coolaroo shades. In any case, you’re going to want to spend some time outdoors and you’ll need some cover from the glaring sun!

In all, I think this is a wonderful remodel that will catch the eye of a buyer, and fast!
