Tuesday Two Hundred: Cute 1960s Ranch Has Vaulted Ceilings, Skylight

I’m loving these newly listed houses that have snow in their real estate photos! Today’s Tuesday Two Hundred is a brand-spanking-new listing at 3714 Crown Shore Dr. near Marsh and Forest lanes, and the snow photos are just the tip of the iceberg. (Sorry, I punned.)

This 4-2 ranch has 1,933 square feet, fantastic vaulted ceilings with wood beams, a fireplace, a large skylight, hardwood floors, and covered patio. It is listed by Don Thomas at Virginia Cook Realtors for $220,000.

The house has solid curb appeal, with mature trees and landscaping. It needs to be powerwashed to show off that cream-colored brick, but that’s a quick fix. There’s so much to like about this house!

Built in 1963, the house has some vintage charm to it, like retro tiles in the entryway, kitchen, and breakfast area, as well as an unusual front door, and statement brick fireplace and entryway half wall.

The living room measures 16-by-16 and has soaring ceilings and a skylight that make the large space seem even bigger. The popcorn ceilings and track lighting are not my favorite, but again, a cosmetic fix for an otherwise super space.

Wood beams on the ceiling help delineate the space between the living room and dining room, which measures 15-by-13. The current owners have placed a wood divider between the rooms, but I would remove that to really let the spaces flow together.

Just off the dining room is an 9-by-9 breakfast nook and 11-by-8 galley kitchen with that great retro tile and a recessed ceiling. The kitchen could use some updates, but it is functional and bright.

The master bedroom measures 16-by-12 and has a walk-in closet. The other three bedrooms measure 13-by-11, 12-by-11, and 12-by-10. The bathrooms are another pretty dated part of the house, but they’re in good shape.

The backyard has a large covered patio (get those bars off the windows, though!), and a concrete area for extra seating. And check out those huge crepe myrtles! That’s one advantage of an older home—mature trees.

This house has great bones and vintage charm with a few areas for improvement. For $220,000, I predict it won’t be on the market long. What do you think? Leave us a comment!
