Touchdown! Kick Off Football Season In Emmitt Smith’s Addison Mansion

Winnwood

Imagine kicking back in Emmitt Smith’s Addison mansion to watch the Dallas Cowboys take the field Thursday for their last preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Now that’s a football fantasy.

Priced at $2.5 million, this mansion at 15001 Winnwood Road, Addison, is home to the NFL’s all-time leading rusher and wife, Pat, a former Miss Virginia USA.

“It’s the only house the Smiths have ever owned in Dallas,” said agent Arthur Greenstein with Y+A Real Estate & Asset Management. “He built it in 1995 and came back periodically to work on it. He’s into real estate development and loves the real estate game. It’s his passion.”

Smith has been involved in buying and selling property since his rookie season and is partners with former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach in a real estate services company.

While Smith isn’t actually credited as the builder of the Winnwood home, he most certainly was the designer.

“He was involved in every part of the design phase and construction phase,” Greenstein said. “He built it with his wife in mind before he was even married. It has two master [bedrooms]. A lot of families have parents who come back to live with them, but in the ’90s, people weren’t really doing that. It shows a lot of foresight.”

At 10,806 square feet, this house is massive. There’s plenty of room for more than just three Super Bowl rings, but who’s counting? It also has stood the test of time, Greenstein explained.

“There was no expense spared; they used the highest-end materials,” he said. “It is one of the most well-built homes in Dallas.”

When you have friends over to watch the game, it’s pretty certain that your award-winning seven-layer dip has got nothing on the fact that there’s a Jacuzzi tub with his-and-hers toilets in one of the five bathrooms or the knowledge that a Hall of Famer used to drift off to dream in one of the five bedrooms.

You could actually watch Cowboys games in the 11-seat media room designed by a former Dallas Cowboy. You could practice your cha-cha on the floors where Smith rehearsed for the third season of Dancing With The Stars (which he won, by the way). You could sit in the steam room where Emmitt freakin’ Smith relaxed after a hard day.

I could go on, but the photos speak for themselves.

There’s a pool with attached spa, a wine cooler, an intercom system, a four-car garage and covered carport, a wet bar, a deck, a garden, and a balcony. Need more? There’s a ton of amenities on this gated lot, just shy of an acre.

The closet space is endless and there are special features for the pool and other parts of the home that are not being publicized. Potential buyers must qualify for a tour.

Because the home was one of the first built in the Carlton Snyder Winnwood area, it is the only home with direct access to a well-manicured park. It’s one of the only privately-gated homes in the community, which also has license plate scanners and other security measures.

“So much foliage has grown around it, you really have ultimate privacy,” Greenstein said. “You can’t see any of the neighbors’ homes. It has some very nice features that would be interesting for someone that has that level of celebrity.”

It also was built in a way that ensures occupants have shelter from those common Dallas storms.

“The home has a generator that operates not just the essential parts of the house but the whole entire house,” Greenstein said. “When the power is out in Dallas, it’s not out at Emmitt Smith’s house.”

Now that’s what I call a mansion. The Smiths’ home is enough to make jaws drop, and I would most definitely get lost trying to find the third fireplace, but it’s also liveable. I could envision a sweet family like the Smiths living there and having family barbecues with 50 of their closest professional athlete friends.

The contemporary/modern two-story home is “really, really beautiful,” Greenstein said.

And if that’s not enough?

It’s Emmitt Smith’s house.

Listed by Arthur Greenstein of Y+A Real Estate & Asset Management, 15001 Winnwood Road has been on the market for a few months and has been shown several times.
