Thursday Three Hundred: Adorable Santa Monica Home is Cozy, Quaint, And in One of The Best Neighborhoods in Dallas

It seems like every week someone tells us what a fantastic neighborhood Hollywood-Santa Monica is. Cassie, Candy’s wonderful and generous daughter, moved there just last year. Our staging expert Karen Eubank lives there, as does Realtor Britt Lopez. It’s a super hot neighborhood!

Just east of Lakewood you’ll find a well-curated collection of Tudors and traditionals in this conservation district. The rolling topography and funky little homes makes this neighborhood feel more like Austin than Dallas, and the prices have been going up in recent years, too, just like homes in our state’s capital.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a home for less than $300,000 in Hollywood-Santa Monica, which is why 6939 San Mateo really caught my eye. It’s listed by David Griffin Realtor Lori Ericsson for $319,000 and it is super cute. It has two bedrooms, two baths, and with a few updates, this 1,508-square-foot home could really be amazing. Right now, it is a wonderful property at a fantastic price.

First thing you’ll notice about this home are the architectural details that have been preserved in this 1949-built home. The archway that separates the living and dining rooms is so perfect, and the fireplace, although the wood has been painted, the brick surround has been kept original.

This home has fresh paint, a new roof, huge windows, plumbing updates, and trendy paint colors throughout. I love the blue-green color in the dining room. But you’ll notice the tired tile on the counters of the kitchen, and I think that would be a good start for the makeover this kitchen needs. I do, however, love the cheerful yellow paint and cute green backsplash.

The bedrooms are both modest at 13×13 for the master and 12×12 for the second bedroom. The master has lovely subtle paint that really shows off the hardwood floors. The master bath is super cute, too, with dual pedestal sinks and a shower/tub combo.

All things considered, this is a fabulous home with tons of potential! You can see this home up-close and personal this Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. if you’re as captivated as we are (and you should be!).
