A recent study by RentCafé lists Plano, Dallas, and Fort Worth in its top 50 cities for remote workers.

That’s cool. You’d expect it.

Plano ranks 23rd. Dallas comes in at 42nd and Fort Worth at 46th.

Other Texas cities rank higher. College Station is in the top 10 at ninth. Round Rock is 11th, Austin 13th, Conroe 15th, Waco 19th, Lubbock 27th, Houston 35th, Amarillo 36th, and San Antonio 41st.

Greenville, S.C., ranks first.

The study crunched the data for 150 U.S. cities, comparing them across five main categories: leisure, affordability, comfort, rental demand, and remote work readiness. The cities were scored on 19 metrics, from the cost of living, availability of apartments with short-term leases, and rental demand to coworking spaces, percentage of remote workers, and internet speed.

Remote Working Conditions Are a Dealbreaker

Remote working conditions are increasingly important. A recent Upwork study found that 4.9 million Americans have already relocated because of remote work opportunities and nearly 19 million more are predicted to do so soon.

Plano is the fifth-best city for remote workers in Texas, according to the study. Plano also ranks best for the number of remote workers, the number of high-end units, and the number of apartments with access to sports amenities.

We already knew this, of course. Plano consistently ranks high in all kinds of studies.

Plano also comes out on top and Frisco second in a ranking of the 200 largest U.S. cities in remote working, according to LawnStarter, a marketplace for lawn maintenance and outdoor home services.

Austin-based LawnStarter should know. It went to being fully remote two years ago.

LawnStarter also ranks Plano as having the 10th-most affordable rent and the 19th-highest household income.

Report review: As usual, RentCafé has depth with its data, and it renders sortable charts to take us down into five-bunny rabbit hole territory. 🐇 🐇 🐇 🐇 🐇
