The complete renovation, redo, rehab at 4416 Laren Lane is already under contract, but we’re writing about it anyway because it’s a great lesson in how to do things right.

Starting with the listing agent, Jessica Koltun. She has her own brokerage and she’s more than a listing agent, she’s also a consultant. Koltun went to school for interior design and after several years with a high-profile firm in town she went out on her own. Four years ago, she decided to get her real estate license and started teaming up with investors to create some serious jaw droppers. Like the one on Laren Lane.

Koltun said TK Homes did the remodel including a complete overhaul of the floorplan. Space planning is her passion because it makes all the difference. “If you don’t have a good floorplan, it doesn’t matter how good your finishes are.”

But this one happens to have stunning finishes, too. Including the perfect gray. Koltun said potential buyers emailed her after a recent Open House to ask exactly what color it is. “Steely Gray by Sherwin Williams.”

Koltun added a lot of unique details to Laren like accent ceilings, wood trim and a mix of metals in the kitchen. “I love mixing metals. It makes a space feel more custom.”

It’s another way to keep the kitchen open, white, and bright, but also add some interest. She went with white cabinets and a split – white countertops on the island and dark countertops in the rest of the kitchen. Again, it’s a way to pull everything together and make it coordinate without being obnoxiously matchy-matchy.

There are pops of muted colors on doors and walls and designer tile, too, including patterned tile in the mudroom. The bleached oak floors and white walls and trim are the perfect backdrop as well.

When it comes to inspiration, Koltun looks to California. She said she was really into the Country Contemporary look that we’re still seeing but she’s moved on to coastal trends. (Like the white on walls AND trim.) She calls it California Contempory and it’s all over Laren. Which, I guess we should say is an incredible four-bedroom, three-and-one-half bath home that is now a perfectly designed 3,053 square feet.

Since we have a few spare words, let’s dive into that floorplan. There’s a mother-in-law suite that’s off the kitchen. Koltun said it was originally down an awkward diagonal hallway, but TK rearranged things and used part of the hallway to create a walk-in pantry which basically makes angels sing. Especially in a home of this era.

If you like what you see, give Koltun a call. Like we said, she also consults. (For fellow Realtors, too.) The stunner at 4415 Laren Lane is priced at $775,000.
