This Midcentury Ranch in Kiest Forest is Extra Modern on the Inside

Stacked Roman brick on the outside, all the updates inside — This like midcentury ranch over in Kiest Forest is set among the rolling hills, has a huge backyard and you can walk to Kiestwood Trail. Like, the backyard is so big you could probably just do laps out there if you wanted to. Plus that fence is A++.

But let’s get down to business on the inside. This midcentury ranch has an open floor plan for today’s modern living, a generous kitchen island with space for all your breakfast buds, and no walls so you don’t even have to shout when it’s Fruity Pebble time.

Trending real hard, soft gray cabinets below and white cabinets up top plus a little pop of decorative tile backsplash. Do you know what else you can love about those cabinets? Where do they go? Say it with me, “All the way to the dang ceiling.” I might need a grabber to get to that top shelf, but hallelujah to the extra storage.

Even though it’s an open floor plan, the spaces are well defined by the guiding lights. Literally. The light fixtures and ceiling fans help guide your table and couch placement. Then there’s three-quarters wainscoting to help carve out a little mudroom right by the door that leads to the garage.

And one final stating-the-obvious thing, I love how they created a little desk area off the kitchen and dining area. If you wanted more storage that would be the perfect place to add a buffet. Either way it’s dynamite.

One more fun fact: The furniture in this house is for sale. That includes that killer vintage Steelcase desk. (I’m hoping.)

All the bedrooms have fresh carpet and in the primary there’s a sliding barn-style door. The beauty of a slider is efficiency and aesthetics. It serves the same purpose as a pocket door, but it fits where pockets don’t. (When pesky plumbing and electric get in the way.)

This midcentury ranch has a really nice little series of neutrals all throughout. Including the added vinyl plank flooring in the main living areas. Vinyl plank is quickly becoming the go-to due to durability, wearability and that sweet, sweet price point.
