This Is The City of Black Hills, Willow Springs, or Heath if You Want to Get Technical

You’ll find this home in the beautiful city of Heath, right across the bridge near Rockwall. They call themselves “a premier lakeside community.” The homes are large and so are the lots. It’s an area that’s been “rich” since its inception.

Back in the day, like 1840, Heath started with a single road. “The Texas Congress ordered a central government road to be built from Austin to the mouth of the Kiamichi Creek at its intersection with the Red River. This road crossed the east fork of the Trinity River in what is now known as Heath.”

People needed to build the road so immigrants and settlers started showing up. They stuck around because of the “rich, black soil” which also gave Heath its first name – Black Hills. Once the farmers arrived, they noticed an abundance of willow trees popping up around the springs and Heath had a new name – Willow Springs.

Then at some point, John O. Heath settled in and since then it’s been Heath. Why the history lesson? I don’t know. Just seemed appropriate. It gives you an idea that this area has always been sought after. Today’s featured home is Exhibit B in my case.

A Sprawling Almost Single Story

Set on almost one full acre in a pocket of 18 homes called The Sanctuary, there’s a 4,670 square foot home that’s listed with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s Int’l. Realty’s Ota Vozeh. It’s a one-and-one-half story making it perfect for anyone looking to dodge stairs. (The “half” is a single room “upstairs.” It’s a theater with its own bathroom.)

Inside the cathedral ceilings in the living room create an air of grandeur and the wall of windows allows that incredibly gorgeous backyard to come on in.

Luxury Outdoor Living

Who else might be interested in this house? Anyone that loves outdoor living. It was literally made for it. There’s a sport court with custom lighting for night games. There’s a pool with a walk-in entry. There’s a separate hot tub in a cabana for quiet evenings when you just want to unwind.

There’s quite a bit of distance from the house to the pool. That’s one thing Vozeh pointed out. In some homes you feel like you step outside right into the pool. That’s not the case at all here. Everything is spaced out and feels endless.

With so much space, it’s not a stretch to imagine this is the home of someone that loves to host, and it really is the perfect entertainer’s home. Vozeh said there’s literally parking inside the gate for 10 to 15 cars.

Room to Spare

In total, the home has four bedrooms. So that’s one for you. One for your home office. One for your workspace — because you cannot create in the same place that you conduct business.

And if your guests want to stay the night after a killer dinner party, I suppose they’re welcome to. There’s plenty of space and every bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom.
