This Cozy Midcentury With All The Storage is Gone From MLS, But Not Forgotten

Set on a creek lot in Claremont, this sweet little midcentury ranch has a lot of updates inside that set it apart from the pack.

Look at those arched doorways! Look at all that storage added under the window seat in the kitchen! A bit of a stroke of genius since we all know our dear midcentury homes are often lacking storage space. They also created a notched-out display and cabinet in the dining area. MORE STORAGE.

And they’re using the dining room as a chill-out reading nook, seating area situation, and taking full advantage of the big ol’ eat-in kitchen. (There’s a china hutch for EVEN MORE STORAGE. It’s a real storage story over there if you’re not picking up on the theme.)

With the contrasting trim and baseboards, they created a space that skews a little more traditional than the standard midcentury. But it has a super cozy vibe, too. The floors are a mix of warm honey-colored wood and traditional tile.

In one bathroom the same tile pops up and the vanities have a dark wood finish. In the other bathroom, there’s a warm white subway-style tile contrasted against a stacked stone wall. It’s a real spa scene in there.

One of the things I love the most in this house is the colorful mosaic tile backsplash in the kitchen. I keep seeing that tile on all the sites and I’m dying for a place to use it in my house. They’re tiny little glass tiles and add a little fun to your onion chopping.

Now, about that creek lot. It’s BIG and it’s very, very green. In the front, there’s a stone path that leads to a seating area, and okay, let’s pretend people really sit in their front lawn and wave to neighbors. Maybe they do. If you were out there selling Girl Scout Cookies, it’d be a primo location and you’d be the most popular house on the block. Hint, hint Girl Scouts. Make it happen.

Out back, I know it doesn’t stay with the property, but that is legit one of the coolest playhouses I’ve seen. It’s like a castle spire. There’s another big seating area that is so huge it accommodates two tables. There are trees and shade and privacy and an oasis. And if I know my creek lots, lots of birds to look at and wildlife to high five as they make their way down the water path.

Here’s the heartbreaker: 2490 El Cerrito is under contract. But keep your eye on Claremont and when something this great comes on the market, pounce. Gayle McCord with eXp Realty had this listed at $320,000.
