Great home, great location, great price (photos: Trey Freeze Media)

A few weeks ago we featured the home at 408 E. Oak Street in the popular town (don’t call it a suburb of Fort Worth!) of Aledo. We were impressed because it was a beautiful, functional, and well-located home in Aledo for less than $350,000 — something that we rarely see in real estate these days.

That article got us at Tarrant County Tuesday wondering if there was a similar home inside the loop of Highway 820 in Fort Worth. Some contenders fit most of what we were looking for, but they needed a lot of updating or were not located in an area of the city that would be our first choice to highlight — that is, until now.

Welcome to the living area with original hardwood floors and great windows

Just before the greatest holiday of the year — my birthday and then Thanksgiving of course — we are proud to let our masses of adoring fans that indeed there is a home in Tarrant County that is located in a fantastic neighborhood, that is completely move-in ready, shows like a magazine spread, and is priced right at our targeted number of $350,000.

This home is move-in ready, spacious and affordable!!

Welcome to Sunset Heights South in Fort Worth and 4000 Kenley Street.

Where is Sunset Heights South?

If you live in Fort Worth and drive anywhere centrally — as in Hulen, Vickery, or Chisolm Trail areas — (OK, if you know where Central Market is located in Fort Worth .. and who doesn’t?) then you have passed by the hidden secret that is Sunset Heights.

We’ve all passed Sunset Heights South and maybe just didn’t realize it.

I have to admit, I probably had lived in Fort Worth for a decade before I knew what and where Sunset Heights was. It’s a little enclave of homes that parallels both Hulen Street and West Vickery Boulevard.

Maybe because it’s of the hilly terrain or the confluence of streets and traffic from various directions, but Sunset Heights South is easily passed without noticing, and the residents love it that way. It is a hidden gem right in the middle of Fort Worth.

Beautiful hardwoods and open flowing living-eating-kitchen at 4000 Kenley Street

The hilly and winding streets are comprised of smallish two- and three-bedroom single-family homes built from the 1940s to the 1960s.

The open kitchen has plenty of cabinets and counters and connects to the huge family room.

4000 Kenley Street

The home, built in 1955, is a nearly 2,000-square-foot single-story that is a simple but very practical three-bedroom, two-bathroom home. One of the functional features of the home is the way that the covered pass-through carport allows for covered parking as well as a friend’s entrance into the home.

Park your vehicle under the roof or in the expanded area.
This design allows you to use your driveway for entertaining as well. I see a deep-fried turkey in that space!

Another fantastic feature is the large family room behind the kitchen with a welcoming fireplace and access to the backyard.

After turkey on Thursday, you can nap by the fire.
Enjoy that tryptophan-induced nap by the fire assuming it gets chilly this week.

Isn’t it crazy when we celebrate an “affordable” home at the $350,000 price tag? Well, that’s the world we live in. People in other Texas cities and certainly other states still chuckle at Fort Worth’s home prices, so this is a home to be celebrated.

If it’s warm for Turkey Day – eat outside

Unlike many in that price range, you get something for the price. At 4000 Kenley Street in Sunset Heights you get a spacious home with generous rooms, totally move-in ready and located perfectly in the heart of Cowtown.

Listed by Corrine Hyman Quast of Williams Trew Real Estate, 4000 Kenley Street is priced … oh you didn’t figure it out by now … at $350,000 and should go quickly.
