The Contrast Between This Tudor’s Interior and Exterior Is Jawdropping

As the Dallas area pours new streets each year and flings itself farther into exurban territory, the remnants of its first generations of architecture get rarer. That’s why a sturdy and well-preserved specimen like 3518 Springbrook is such a head-turner. That it’s tucked into one of Dallas’s most eclectic, convenient, and centrally located neighborhoods makes it all the sweeter.

This Northern Heights home near Knox Henderson is listed by Selden Tual of Rogers Healy and Associates for $1,665,000.

The brick-built, classic Tudor has undergone $200,000 in updates, according to Tual. That includes new heating and AC units, water heaters, a carport, and even a new dog run adjoining the backyard.

Through the front door, the home’s airy living room is all clean minimalism: refinished hardwood floors meeting creamy, off-white walls that rise to a vaulted ceiling, with generous windows onto the greens of the home’s landscaping. Stained glass windows provide a quiet counterpoint.

Connecting to this space is a den with a fireplace, that in turn gives way to the dining room and kitchen, with its long, ample counters. Taken together, it’s a welcoming layout for serving guests at your first dinner party.

A rarity for Texas is the finished basement. The tidy aesthetics from upstairs continue here, with stone flooring and two arched passageways that lead to the backyard. It’s easy to imagine having a couple of beers with friends here after work, or just withdrawing for some quiet time.

“Especially with the full attached bathroom downstairs,” Tual points out, “it could easily make for a fourth bedroom.” Looks are deceiving with this house. The modest facade gives way to 3,603 square feet. And BTW, the reason this home shows so well is its superb staging by George Bass.

The oversized master bedroom is upstairs, featuring its own fireplace and a study area, with glorious window views onto the thick foliage of the neighborhood, as well as a private outdoor deck.

The master bathroom connects to a long walk-in closet, and has generous vanity space and a separate tub and shower.

In the backyard, there’s a cookout kitchen area, an extended deck, and a swimming pool. The crown jewel is the two-floor guest house. It’s also updated and stands ready for your in-laws, your college friends, or your new Airbnb side hustle.

All these hints about having guests are probably a bit much, but the Northern Heights section of Dallas is perfect for entertaining. It’s a walking neighborhood close to bars and restaurants, as well as a Trader Joe’s. Springbrook Street ends in a cul-de-sac with its own keyed entry to the Katy Trail. That’s immediate access to Dallas’s best people-watching.

Grab a piece of architecture from an early era of Dallas, when some of the newest streets in town were hardly as far as Highland Park.

3518 Springbrook is listed by Selden Tual of Rogers Healy and Associates for $1,665,000.
