Well, here’s some good news, especially if you live in McKinney.

The McKinney City Council approved its 2024 budget last week, which includes a three-cent decrease in the city’s property tax rate. How about that?

Maybe McKinney is the place to be if the tax rates are lower next year, but that’s not the only thing to like here. There’s a lot going on in this city that serves as the country seat for Collin County with a precious historic downtown surrounded by restaurants, shopping, and cute, cute, cute cottages. It’s the site of golf tournaments, home tours, and festivals. The newest activity in McKinney is the Tiny Doors public art installation in downtown where the cutest tiny doors adorn area businesses.

With so much going for it — including a tax cut — house hunters just might want to give McKinney a serious look. To make things easier, daltxrealestate.COM is shining the spotlight on McKinney where the property taxes are going in the right direction.

1306 N. Waddill Street, McKinney

A beautiful historic house is what a lot of people think of when they think of the McKinney housing market. So as not to disappoint those very astute people, let’s lead off with a historic estate. Built in 1858, this grand house occupies four lots in Historic Downtown McKinney and is loaded with charm.

The historic house, built in 1858, is on the market in 2023.

The colonial columns, gracious front porch, and white exterior grab attention immediately, then inside prepare to be overwhelmed by the 2,940-square-foot home’s interiors. Hardwood floors, plantation shutters, French doors, a wood-burning fireplace, and an elegant staircase are part of the package. Investigate the wine cellar, storm shelter, and basement, too.

Modern updates are included, too, like central A/C, of course, in this four-bedroom, three-bathroom house. The kitchen’s outfitted with stainless steel appliances and custom cabinets, and the backyard features a pool, a 435-square-foot pool house, a sport court, and an oversized garage with detached storage.

Listing price? $800,000.

The vintage charm co-exists with modern updates.
The bright, white kitchen is equipped for life in this millennium.

The house, listed by Alba Herrera Beaty with Coldwell Banker Apex, will be held open noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

7901 Fossil Creek Trail, McKinney

Here’s a house with a flexible floor plan to enjoy in its 3,114 square feet, complete with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The downstairs, featuring wood floors, includes not only the primary, but also a study and a second bedroom. A gas fireplace anchors the family room, where a stately staircase leads to the second story.

Four bedrooms and four bathrooms are found within the walls of this McKinney home.

The house features lots of extras—updated lighting fixtures, bathrooms with ship lap walls and custom window coverings. The bright kitchen comes with stainless steel appliances while the on-trend waterfall island serves as the focal point.

A part of a master-planned community, the new homeowners will find all kinds of ways to have fun. The easy access to a community pool, playground, jogging trails, club house and dog park comes with this house, listed at $719,999.

Custom window coverings are among the special features.
The waterfall island keeps the kitchen on-trend.

Muhammad Ismail with All Green Realty will hold this house open from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.

7409 Sabine Drive, McKinney

Want to avoid stairs? This single-story house will save the knees. It’s priced at $550,000 and features such stylish touches as crown molding and wood floors. Located in McKinney’s Trinity Falls neighborhood, the home comes with sports courts, a community pool, and bike trails.

The rock from the exterior is echoed inside, on the living room fireplace.

The 2,354-square-foot house, built in 2015, features three bedrooms, two full baths, and one half-bath. The primary bedroom is spacious enough for a sitting area, and its ensuite bathroom includes both a soaking tub and a walk-in, glassed-in shower.

The living room’s rock fireplace is flanked by built-in bookshelves, perfect for books and photos. It opens to the kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a walk-in pantry, and a large island. The backyard’s large patio is covered, making it great for entertaining.

The rock fireplace serves as the family room’s focal point.
Dining options include the kitchen island and a separate dining area.

Realtor Valarie Kerby with RE/MAX Four Corners will hold this house open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

2524 Dunbar Drive, McKinney

Some of us love a stately red brick house, and here’s one in the town of decreasing property taxes. It comes with a bonus, too — a balcony with ceiling fans overhead. Surely there are rocking chairs in this home‘s future.

Red brick, white trim, and a balcony give this house some curb appeal.

Beyond the large trees on the front lawn is an open floor plan. The kitchen opens to the living room, offering views of the backyard pool. With a dedicated office, there’s room for working from home, and with a formal dining room, there’s space for entertaining. Movie night will be a snap with the media room featuring a projector and wall screen. Bedrooms number three, and there are two full bathrooms and one half-bath.

Built in 2004 in the Stonebridge Ranch community, the house measures 2,844 square feet and is priced at $579,500.

The angled kitchen bar offers a space for casual dining.
The family room windows flood the space with natural light.

An open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday is scheduled for this property, listed by Anna Kemp with Posh Property Advisers.
