Football, Boobs, Diamonds & Real Estate: Christopher Wynn’s Tell-All on the Crosland-Rohrich Relationship Makes for Good Weekend Reading

Christopher Wynn at FD!LUXE sure has a home run with his latest apologue of what everyone in town was talking about on their summer vacation: the Crosland divorce, the temporary resignation of one of the most powerful plastic surgeons in the country, Dr. Rod Rohrich at UT Southwestern, and what will happen next.

We know one thing for sure from this article: Luke Crosland won’t be getting his hair done at the Salon Lucien, which he has a 1% interest in:

Mary is the Southern Methodist University alum who, four years ago, launched the luxurious Salon Lucien, named for her husband (he funded the finish-out and remains a 1 percent owner) and nestled into Berkshire Court, where the Crosland Group also has offices. Luke Crosland’s attorney, Stephanie Curtis, says Mary Crosland today bans her husband from getting even a quick haircut at the salon and calls the police if he comes in.

And he won’t be going to Dr. Rohrich for any more plastic surgery. Question is, who will? Wynn smartly took note of something most of us did when this story first broke: Dr. Rohrich’s salary of $1.7 million as head of the plastic surgery department at UT Southwestern.

College sports and breast augmentation are, apparently, the two things Texans value most. This notion is one of many to emerge in a Dallas society scandal that is mixing sex, sin and one very spectacular diamond. The indication of the aforementioned theory is a Texas Tribune database ranking the top salaries of state public employees. Number one is Mack Brown, the former head football coach at the University of Texas at Austin, with more than $5 million in salary. Another UT Austin coach and the head coach at Texas Tech University hold spots number two and three, respectively. Coming in at number four? A Dallas plastic surgeon, Rodney “Rod” Rohrich, who, the database indicates, earns $1.7 million yearly as the head of the plastic-surgery department at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

That news stirred more than a few ACA-scarred physicians I’ve spoken with in the last few months. Many wonder if Rohrich is still on salary now that he has temporarily resigned from his leadership position. As the article notes,  “he remains a faculty member in good standing,” while UTSW investigates ALLEGED “unprofessional conduct”.

But is he still pulling in $1.7m from the state?

What does this have to do with real estate? Everything: Luke Crosland is a leading Dallas developer, most recently in the news for the luxury high rise he wants to build in Preston Center.
