Second Staff Meeting Soiree at the W Residences Builds on First

Group-1
Staff Meeting hostess Minnette Murray shares a surprised look with husband John – a patriotic red dress, white shirt and blue jeans.

Last night, 30 real estate geeks met to celebrate Minnette Murray’s listing at the W Residences. Despite being postponed because of rain (that ultimately never came) and competing with D Magazine’s “Best Realtor” event at the Dallas Arboretum, we had a pretty full house.

Jo-Candy
Candy’s Dirt executive editor Joanna England and Candy Evans herself

Candy stayed all night even though she’d yet to pack for her 6 a.m. flight to Miami for the National Association of Real Estate Editor’s annual convention. I’m sure she’d have continued the party right on to the jet bridge if not for those pesky liquids rules.

The rest of Candy’s crew was out in force with Amanda Popken, Karen Eubank and ‘lil ol’ me.  We soldiered on without Bethany Erickson and Leah Shafer – more wine for us!

But this wasn’t about us, it was about Minnette’s special listing. The expansive 2,570 square foot unit (2508) was bedecked in wine and nibbles to lubricate conversations. The postcard views of downtown were a knockout and guests got an unexpected floor-to-ceiling “wow” when looking over to the still-very-swollen Trinity River just outside the front door (where exactly is that tollway supposed to go again?).

Trinity

One of the reasons you live in the W Residences is because of the staff – and they were wonderful to our little group ready to help with any request be it an extra set of hands or welcoming our guests. One can only imagine what room service must be like.

I had a great chat with Dave Perry-Miller’s “Miss High-Rise,” Sharon Quist and Briggs-Freeman’s Katye Sloan about who actually reads condo docs (The short answer? Me and one Canadian guy). I also learned that developments like the W Residences and Ritz have added hurdles in financing because of the hotel operations – none that Sharon has ever found insurmountable. I was aware of buildings with low full-time occupancy have these issues (been there; done that) but this was new (to newbie me).

Remember my story on Great Gulf’s other property on Fairmount and Turtle Creek from last week that’s kitty-corner from Great Gulf’s other development the Limited Edition? Well, tomorrow I’m popping over to Katye’s office to hear more about the development (pics and floor plans – prices? – so stay tuned).

Keith Head, Broker Associate from Coldwell Banker’s Park Cities office enjoyed the first Staff Meeting so much he popped in to share some Turtle Creek intrigue that I’ll be sharing in the future (‘natch).

Ginger-Victoria
Ebby was also out in full force with Park Cities Manager Ginger Gill and lux Ebby agent Victoria Barr flanked by some mancandy – from Kevin & Company, Bill Clarkson and Kevin Caskey.

Remember to look for our next Candy’s Dirt Staff Meeting in the dog days of September, when we’re guaranteed of not being rained-out! We’re also lining up an over-the-top property and a guest speaker. Someone mentioned a toga party, jus’ sayin’.

Remember: Do you have an HOA story to tell? A little high-rise history? Realtors, want to feature a listing in need of renovation or one that’s complete with flying colors? How about hosting a Candy’s Dirt Staff Meeting? Shoot Jon an email. Marriage proposals accepted (as soon as they’re legal in Texas)! [email protected]
