For some reason, Texas seems to be appealing to the Euro crowd.
The latest Texas International Homebuyers Report released by Texas Realtors showed that our state ranked third nationally for homes sold to international buyers from April 2020 to March 2021.
Texas again ranked behind Florida and California in homes sold to international buyers. Texas also accounted for 9 percent of all homes purchased by international buyers.
In this reporting period, 31 percent of Texas’ international buyers came from the Latin America/Caribbean region, but 27 percent originated from Europe. Last year, 42 percent of the buyers came from the Latin America/Caribbean region and 13 percent from Europe.
Why? Good question. No reason was given for Europe’s interest other than the report’s raw data.

“Historically, the largest number of homebuyers purchasing in Texas from outside of the United States is from the Latin America and Caribbean region,” Russell Berry, chairman of Texas Realtors said in a statement. “While that is still true, European homebuyers nearly closed the gap this past year.”
In this reporting period, Texas registered 9,630 home sales out of 107,000 nationwide. A year ago, Texas sold 13,860 homes out of 154,000 nationwide.
The report is based on survey data from the 2022 International Transactions in U.S. Residential Real Estate by the National Association of Realtors and the 2022 edition of the Commercial Real Estate International Business Trends.
In commercial real estate sales, Texas was second only to Florida for the most popular U.S. state for international buyers who work with Realtors, according to the 2022 Commercial Real Estate International Business Trends report.
