Whitman-6

It was built long before the Millennials were born, but this Colonial-esque ranch home near downtown Fort Worth has all the updates and offers a prime space for entertaining.

This Tuesday Two Hundred selection is a 1,905-square-foot property at 6304 Whitman Ave., Fort Worth. It features an in-ground pool, a covered, open back patio, and a built-in bar for serving thirsty guests.

“What’s really unique about this house is that it’s updated, and not many of the other properties in this area have that to offer,” said Realtor Nikki Skalsky of Keller Williams Realty Arlington. “It’s a good house for having parties.”

Another three reasons this house will pique your interest: Location, location, location.

“It’s surrounded by everything,” Skalsky said, noting the proximity to Hulen Mall, Texas Christian University, Seventh Street and “tons of entertainment.”

Slick Updates

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home sits on 0.239 acres. It features laminate wood flooring, granite counters, and a covered front porch. The master suite has a custom oversized walk-in shower with two rain showerheads. The home’s roof, lighting, interior doors, and windows have updates. Also featured is a rear-entry, two-car garage.

This Whitman Ave. abode is nestled in the Wedgwood neighborhood, which is considered middle class, majority white, with a median household income of about $55,000, according to ZipDataMaps. About 70 percent of the students attending area schools are Hispanic.

Too Cool For School

While GreatSchools.org, test scores, and what Mary’s cousin Susie has to say about a school district can be decent qualifiers when selecting a home and therefore the schools your kids will attend, we know from our own research that some of those numbers are arbitrary and opinions are, well, just that – opinions.

This Whitman Ave. home is in Fort Worth ISD, and its schools boast pretty solid numbers from the Texas Education Agency. J.T. Stevens Elementary School met all standards in the 2018 TEA Accountability Ratings and earned distinctions for “Comparative Academic Growth,” and “Comparative Closing the Gaps.”

Wedgwood Middle School met all standards including “Student Achievement,” “School Progress,” and “Closing the Gaps,” but did not earn any distinctions in its 2018 TEA Accountability Ratings. Southwest High School’s 2018 TEA Accountability Ratings show it met all standards and earned distinctions in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, “Comparative Academic Growth,” and “Postsecondary Readiness.”

Nikki Skalsky with Keller Williams Realty Arlington has listed 6304 Whitman Ave. for $245,000.
