Oregon Hippie House on The Beach Brings the Boozy Vibes

Boozy, Oregon, beachhouse

The house featured in this week’s column makes me feel boozy. I have always loved the word boozy and now, after all these years, I have a house that encapsulates what it is to feel boozy.

Now what is super duper funny is that in the dictionary the example of how the word is to be used goes like this: “the boozy and drugged-out wreckage of his later years”

The full sentence could be, “The design of the scenic, cozy beachfront home was done by an architect during the boozy and drugged-out wreckage of his later years.” Now that is a sentence!

This twisted-like-a-mangled-pretzel of a home is located at 321 Salishan Drive, Gleneden Beach, Oregon. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and is 1,446 square feet. The owner is asking $799,000. The home sits on an almost half acre. The incredible Oregon coastline is a stone’s throw away. Undoubtedly, the sunsets are unbelievable.

Dubbed “the hippie house” of Salishan, the home features an original wood interior and slate rock flooring. Between you, me, and the lamp post, I think that is a great place for a bed. My heels would be constantly catching on the uneven rock causing me to trip. The bed makes for a cozy place to recoup.

And here comes that boozy feeling with all the unevenness and angles going every which way. I am as sober as a judge writing about this house and I feel the urge to close my eyes just to get centered again.

This photo reminds me of the scene in the movie Independence Day where Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum have broken loose and they are flying toward an exit to escape the alien ship before the window to closes. Goldblum is saying “Must go faster.” As good as that scene was, it should be common knowledge that the interior of your home should not reflect the interior of a mother alien ship.

Okay, wrong Goldblum movie but you get the point.

What a fantastic view from the deck. Too bad you have to crawl through a window to get to it. I can only imagine the fist fights that have ensued over who gets to sit at the part of the bar that is in front of the window. Those people sitting in front of the wood wall are, what is the word, boozy?

Yeah, I do not know what is going on here. I am just glad I do not have to haul my big ‘ol butt out the window to see the beach. The explanation of this goes back to the sample sentence, “The design of the scenic, cozy beachfront home was done by an architect during the boozy and drugged-out wreckage of his later years.”
