Mark Martinek is the designer behind MOD Construction, a firm that designs and builds modern, eco-friendly homes. I’ve always been in love with these properties, how they evoke the same kind of shapes popularized during the 50s, but had facades and materials that were grounded and unique.

If you’ve also been lusting over Martinek’s designs, then you won’t want to miss this property from Virginia Cook agent Ed Murchison. Located on a fun, rolling street in the funky East Dallas enclave of Little Forest Hills, this home is such a delight. Of course, you’ll have to act fast because it hasn’t hit MLS yet. A high-caliber home like this one means you won’t want to waste time with your pre-approval before submitting your best, highest bid. Call Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans so that you won’t have any hiccups.

Located at 8813 Diceman, this home has so much curb appeal and really takes advantage of the street’s rolling, Hill Country-type feel. The exterior is rustic, with tons of texture from the oxidized steel supports and beams, the cool vertical wood siding, and the cement panel facade. The clerestory windows add light to the interiors without sacrificing privacy.

Inside, though, it’s all sleek and modern with natural finishes in a range of tones that add depth to the design. Dark stained hardwood floors and a cool fireplace with an exposed flue, as well as that built-in shelving system made of pipe and planks, give this home a warm, modern feel. Murchison has priced this property, which has 2,023 square feet, at $468,800.

I do love this dining room, especially the color of the table. However, the chairs are a bit too big for the space, and considering that it’s on the way to the kitchen, it might make potential buyers feel like they couldn’t host parties without a friend stumbling over furniture or breaking a toe. The light fixture is a little pedestrian, but these are all cosmetic issues and opportunities for you to truly customize the space.

There are a few reasons why you’re gong to love this kitchen. Yes, there are beautiful cabinets, lovely quartz counters, plenty of lighting, a built-in TV and stainless steel appliances. But, my favorite part is the little cutaway at the top of the backsplash, because look what’s on the other side …

Isn’t that cool? I love that idea!

The master suite is gorgeous, using the green tint of the glass-covered wall as an accent. The wall of windows with a door is fantastic, letting in plenty of light and leaving the whole room feeling luminous. The master bath echoes the green glass theme with the mosaic tiles. The vanity is large and has two sinks, and there is an oversized walk-in closet, too.

There are three total bedrooms and two baths, but one of the bedrooms is being used as a media room, which is a great idea for a home that is limited on space.

“The overall layout of this home is very smart as there is really no wasted space,” Murchison notes. “The generous entry flows into the extra wide hallway that serves as a library with integrated built in shelving. Beautiful custom finishes abound such as sleek wall coverings and custom lined draperies … no builder basic finishes here!”
