Yesterday, prowling the Fort Worth beat from Edward’s Ranch to Rivercrest, I found several enticing listings before landing in front of 2324 Mistletoe Drive in Mistletoe Heights — the hands-down winner for this week’s Fort Worth Friday. Often, in the back of my mind, when looking at a property there is a “could I live here?” fantasy.  This midcentury modern is so seductive that my answer would be a resounding “yes.” And I wasn’t alone in my admiration, because the house was on the market for all of five days. The current status is “active pending” but that needn’t prevent us from taking a look. Indulge Magazine thought the 1946 build unique enough to merit a feature in 2012.

The style of the house is more Art Deco than midcentury modern, with vestigial traces of  Mediterranean villa. The foundation is pier and beam — in this case steel pier and beam. The xeriscaped lot is carefully planted with native plants and planned randomness.

The resemblance of the interior to a gallery isn’t accidental. The current owner is an artist whose work, lit by track lighting, adorns the walls.  Modern furniture classics complement the architectural style.

The dining room is furnished with Danish modern and is anchored by an Art Deco buffet.

The kitchen features completely up-to-date appliances and ample cabinetry. The countertops are made of recycled glass.

A long passageway illuminated by glass brick windows and mini-spots leads to the master bedroom.

The master bedroom  looks loft-like with its polished concrete floors, beamed ceiling, and exposed duct work. It has an attached bath and large closet.

Tongue-in-groove knotty pine paneling warms the upstairs landing leading to the three additional bedrooms, which are only slightly smaller than the master.

A long room along the back of the house saves as a sun drenched office with a brick paver floor.

Apart from the undeniable charm of the house, the quick sale this property may have been the fact that the over 4,000-square-foot house is priced at a mere $200 per square foot.

Charles Benson of Coldwell Banker is offering 2324 Mistletoe Drive for $810,000.
