No Megastore in Uptown ‘Wear Red’ Rally: Monday 10 am to 3 pm at Klyde Warren Park

No-MegastoreIt’s Memorial Day, and what a better way to spend it than standing up for what you believe is right for your city. That’s why supporters for No Megastore Uptown! are meeting today from 10 am- 3 pm at Klyde Warren Park. Uptown Ciclova is turning the neighborhood into a car-free, walkable environment to bring the community together and to gain support.

“This is exactly the vision that we have for the East Village!” says Jonas Parks, who has emerged as a leader in the Battle Against the Box.

“Join us to help raise awareness about the megastore like Sam’s Club from coming to Uptown, and to help recruit more supporters to stop it!” says Jonas.

Wear red to show solidarity. Meet us at 11:45 AM by the Food Trucks across from Dallas Museum of Art by Klyde Warren Park and we will have flyers to hand out. They can’t be handed out in the actual park, but we will let you know where they can be distributed to as many people as possible.

No Megastore aims to stop Trammell Crow from putting a megastore (Sam’s Wholesale Club) in Uptown Dallas, in a 17 acre land parcel next to Cityplace that was supposed to be development as multi-family and “corner store” retail.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to sign the Change.org petition yet, clic khere: 1,750 signatures  far and growing.
