Enjoy the Charms of This L Streets Home in Lake Highlands with Cute Spaces, Styling

8521-Lockhaven-AThe L Streets are a charming part of Lake Highlands, an area with about 1,050 single-family homes from the mid-1950s and later. It is so named because most street names begin with the letter L, like our Tuesday Two Hundred at 8521 Lockhaven Dr.

The L Streets are roughly bounded by Walnut Hill Lane, Plano Road, Ferndale Road, and Northwest Highway. This home is just a couple of blocks from Frendale and Northwest Highway, close to popular recreation areas like White Rock Lake, the White Rock Creek Trail and Greenbelt, Flagpole Hill, and the Dallas Arboretum. There’s easy access to Interstate 635, Central Expressway, and the DART Rail White Rock Station.
8521-Lockhaven-AIt’s a 3-2 with 1,708 square feet, built in 1955. Over the years, owners have made cute updates that make it a turnkey property. But it still has that retro charm that makes these homes so appealing.

It was listed Dec. 4 by Jason Thomas with Nathan Grace Real Estate for $289,000, and went under contract yesterday. Let’s take a look before the final deal is done.

It’s eye candy, for sure, from curb appeal to interior stylings.

The entryway hall opens on the right to the formal living room, where’s a big bay window floods the room with natural light. This front room has hardwood floors and flows to the right into the formal dining room. If I were buying, I’d try to get that retro starburst mirror thrown in the sale!

Straight ahead from the entryway is the family room, with a painted brick fireplace, gray paint that continues the neutral palette, and a door leading to the backyard. 8521-Lockhaven-A8521-Lockhaven-i8521-Lockhaven-AClosing the loop of the family room-entryway-living room-dining room, the kitchen is an open space with updates that include dark granite counters, an island, glass-front cabinets, white subway tile, and a stainless steel gas range. There is no shortage of cabinet space in here.8521-Lockhaven-A8521-Lockhaven-A 8521-Lockhaven-s 8521-Lockhaven-t 8521-Lockhaven-uAll of the bedrooms are era-appropriate, and therefore modest in size, with hardwood floors. The 15-by-13 master has a walk-in closet and a bathroom with original tan tile. The other bedrooms measure 13-by-12 and 12-by-11, and share access to an awesome pink-tiled bathroom. The cabinets look like they could use updating, and the shower door is dated, but the space is workable and quite charming.8521-Lockhaven-v 8521-Lockhaven-w 8521-Lockhaven-xAll of the windows in the house are new, as is the covered patio in back. A detached two-car garage sits nearby, with a stone path leading out in the yard.

This L Streets home went on and off the market in three days, so it’s definitely got what buyers want. What do you think?
