We love Jane McGarry, from the first time we watched her at the KXAS-TV anchor desk to the fun times I had with her on Nonstop Nightly when I’d drive to the KXAS studios in Fort Worth and give a little real estate report in the early days of this blog.
Early days? I know, I cannot believe how far we have come!
And so has Jane. When she left KXAS after a gadzillion years, Jane did not spare one second but went to work creating her own online site with a brand that everyone in North Texas knew unless they had been in a 30 year coma.
She did the research, made the phone calls, had lunch and coffee with all those in the know. And late this summer, she launched Real Jane. It’s a sort of e-magazine and blog, very fun. Launched in July. The site is a daily discussion of life in Dallas, much like most local blogs (but not snarky, thank God), stirred by current topics and news, spiced with the years of experience and interviews only Jane could bring to the table. She has a huge Facebook following, and she knows every inch of Dallas Fort Worth. She knows the flavor of Dallas! It’s sad that major media companies sometimes don’t value the expertise of seasoned reporters and prefer to stay with young, inexperience neophytes who they can bring on for hardly any money to do “reporting” while they charge advertisers exorbitant rates.
Well, that world is changing, and changing rapidly. Jane’s sitting pretty with Real Jane, and we are thrilled she is featuring every Candy’s Dirt Tuesday Two Hundred with her vast sea of readers!
