1531-San-Saba-Front1

Dan Koller, the absolutely incredible publications manager over at Dave Perry-Miller & Associates, sent this listing my way on Monday. “Something tells me this house will tickle your fancy,” Koller said. Holy cannoli, was he right! Not only that, but I drive by this home all the time, but I had no idea what kind of wonder was set across the cute red bridge from the street.

That’s what’s perfect about this home: It’s so secluded and private that the only thing you can see from the street is the little bridge. But what sits across that lovely little bridge is what makes this house at 1531 San Saba worthy of our “High Caliber Home of the Week” title. Truly, this house is a sight to be seen, and won’t be around for long. Why worry about hitting snags with financing when you could have a lender that takes pains to make sure your pre-approval and mortgage paperwork goes as smoothly as possible. That’s what Lisa Peters does at Caliber Home Loans. Find out more about her high-caliber service by calling her today.

Now, this home, while in Casa Linda Estates, really has more of the feel you find in the neighboring Little Forest Hills. This home, built in 1951, is definitely fun and funky, with tons of character filling its two-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath floor plan. It’s listed by Dave Perry-Miller agent Scott Kaserman for $675,000. Considering you get almost 3,300 square feet, plus plenty of outdoor room for entertaining, this home is a fantastic deal. The two bedrooms are downstairs, with two and a half baths.

My favorite part of the home, and probably yours once you see it, is the interior balcony overlook. It’s a wonderful space that opens the second floor to the first, and makes the home feel open and accessible. It’s perfect for entertaining, and has plenty of space for records or books. But thanks to the smooth museum finish on the walls, copious windows, and plentiful lighting, this home is perfect for an art collection, too. I also adore the texture throughout this home, where you’ll find sleek and modern concrete counters paired with reclaimed hardwoods and beautiful natural slate. The wood-burning stove in the living room is a perfect foil for the cabin-in-the-woods feel that the wrap-around deck and heavily treed lot give off.

Even more texture and beauty can be found upstairs in the master bathroom, which has a beautiful soaking tub on a platform, which appears to be concrete stained to look like patinated copper? Not quite sure. It’s beautiful, though, and goes so well with the slate tile. You know, while I love elegant gray interiors with tons of chrome and marble paired with porcelain, the color in this bathroom just makes it feel so cozy and inviting! I don’t know if I’d ever want to leave! This is definitely one of those bathrooms that can melt away the winter blues.

Of course, the exterior of this home is just as incredible as the insides. The terraced garden and patio with fire pit, the beautiful deck and front entry … I love all of it. And imagine how beautiful this lot looks in spring! It’s like one big shade garden! Other bonuses to this home include the 600-square-foot studio and the one-car garage. I hope the buyer of this home appreciates it’s unique features as much as I do!
