In Winnetka Heights The Porch Is Life and This Home Nails It

This Oak Cliff home is so cute and welcoming, sheeeee’s a real charmer. I mean, right off the bat, a quick flip reveals amazing interiors! Like where did they find so much space? That was my first thought. Followed by, holy cow, this home is 2,634 square feet! In my mind anything at or around 2,400 square feet is ideal and this one is nailing it. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start at the porch.

Obviously, the porch isn’t just a means to the front door in Winnetka Heights. It’s where you show your holiday spirit, meet your neighbors, and contemplate the world over a hot (potentially spiked) cup of coffee.

This house on S. Winnetka Heights is located on one of the premier blocks for porches, Compass’ Jenni Stolarski said. You know, porches that show out for every holiday. They are piled high with pumpkins, whip out wreaths at 12:01 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, and show an abundance of bunnies and bunny-related décor for Easter. They have shamrocks and pots of gold on St. Patrick’s Day and patriotic bunting draped along the porch for the Fourth of July. Winnetka Heights is all of those and more.

Stolarski said that’s just the neighborhood though, you know? It’s a full calendar of neighborhood events, happy hours, and next door dinners. If you live in Winnetka Heights, you come with a certain personality. One that’s warm and gracious and loves the way the world used to work. Maybe that’s why you’re drawn to 1940s construction. I’m not a detective but I’m pretty sure I just cracked that case. ANYWAY…

This five-bedroom home is the living embodiment of all of those spirited ideals, features, and more. Remember last paragraph when I totally solved why people are drawn to older homes while living in current times? This one is that personality personified.

Classically Current

It’s vintage and charming on the exterior and throughout so many details inside. But it’s also updated to today’s desires – both functionally and aesthetically. The bathrooms are the perfect example. Stolarski said the bathrooms were updated for that very purpose – to bring the vibe of this home into the modern day. (It was tiled counters and slate floors, now it’s crisp marble tile, accent mirrors, and slide-in vanities.)

I freaking love the kitchen, too. You get a long countertop like you’d find in a galley kitchen, but then they added an island plus even more countertop on the other side. There’s also plenty of closed storage and two perfectly placed floating shelves to add your own personality and pops of color.

The location can’t be beat, the bathrooms are big, and the backyard has plenty of space for you to flex your green thumb. Stolarski has 119 S. Winnetka Avenue listed for $754,900.
