Open House alert for this 1930s stone Tudor: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2605 Maple Springs Blvd.

To find a home for this week’s theme of lovely love nests, I adjusted my search parameters to home amenities that were principal to me back in my young married life before kids: affordable, one-story, and close enough to Dallas proper that our friends wouldn’t shrug, “Eh, that’s kinda far to drive.” (We’re talking pre-Uber days.) This week’s featured Thursday 300 is found at 2605 Maple Springs Blvd. in Oak Lawn Heights. This 1936 stone Tudor — 1,162 square feet with two bedrooms and one bath — would be our dream home if we could have afforded $340,000 on a newspaper reporter and IT guy’s combined salaries.

The living room features fine crown molding and decorative light sconces above the gas log fireplace.

This Maple Springs home features original hardwood floors and a renovated kitchen with granite and stainless steel dishwasher, oven, and four-burner gas cooktop. Other included appliances are the washer and dryer.

The master bedroom is full of windows, making it a bright and inviting place to retreat. The updated bathroom has a large walk-in tile shower with tankless hot water heater.

Outside there are front and backyard sprinklers, back porch deck, iron-gated driveway, and a quality board-on-board fence, as well as a detached one-car garage.

One of the best parts of this 30s-era stone Ttudor is the covered entry porch. You can sit and gaze out the round arches that frame this great neighborhood that’s walking distance to local watering hole The Windmill, CVS, and Kroger. Plus, for medical professionals, this could be a dream commute to UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital.

This home is listed by Jeff Updike and Weston Pugh of Dave Perry-Miller Preston Center. You can see this beauty in person this Sunday, Feb. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m.
